EDITOR,

Well, I see our federal government is up to its old tricks by disallowing Arizona to police its own borders and protect itself from the dregs of society, the illegals from Mexico.

We have millions of law-abiding citizens out of work, losing their homes, their cars, their dignity, and yet a mealy-mouthed, spineless federal judge sides with the illegal immigrants who come here like thieves in the night, not asking for help, but demanding that we give them free medical care, free housing and jobs, and declaring, you owe us, America.

Well, I say balderdash — we owe you illegals nothing.

If you would expend the effort you spend trying to get into my country on cleaning up your own country, you wouldn’t need to come here and live four or five families to a house.

And, you know what, I’ll be willing to wager that we would get along just fine without you.

Hoorah for Arizona — at least they had the guts to try to do something. That’s more than can be said about our congressmen and -women and president.

I agree with HD8:

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=14632

Mexico has a single, streamlined law that ensures that foreign visitors and immigrants are:

in the country legally;

have the means to sustain themselves economically;

not destined to be burdens on society;

of economic and social benefit to society;

of good character and have no criminal records; and

contributors to the general well-being of the nation.

PS: Tracy Press, the fonts are terrible and you have been repeatedly told by others... too hard to read. Help!

I have an uncle and a brother-in-law who are both immigrants. One from Equador and one from Malta. They both came to this country legally, speak English and pay taxes. I still agree with the letter writer. If you don't want to be legal here, go home. To be legal you must be documented. If I got pulled over I would have to provide proof of who I am and where I live. I would have to show that I am driving legally. My identification proves I am a U.S. citizen. I have to show that I am insured and I have to show who the car belongs to.

Here’s the answer to the United States ILLEGAL alien problem, from Mexico.

We should IMMEDIATELY ADOPT MEXICOS IMMIGRATION POLICY and set it in full force. How could anyone complain about that?

AmericanSueño, I guess you were trying to use the alcoholics scenario as a comparison to Arizona's illegal immigration law? One of the many problems with your logic is that possible alcoholic drivers and normal drivers do get stopped. Tracy just had one. It's called a DUI Checkpoint! Everyone who drives through it is stopped, and if they appear to be driving drunk or breaking any other laws, they are arrested. Most of the people are law abiding citizens, but they are still stopped just because they happened to be driving in the area. But you and many others complain if the same thing was to happen in Arizona, but with illegal immigration substituted for drunken driving? Now that doesn't make sense...

Herman,

You can argue whether it's 99.9 or 99.996% until the cows come home. I think most educated people realize it's a big problem. And one thing puzzles me why our current congressman won't do anything about it. I understand the vets can't even use the county hospital because of illegals?

99.9 % of all the "facts" TCY1 mentions are erroneous and highly exaggerated.

NEWSFLASH, California's Law is virtually the same as Arizona's. And it's been in effect for a long time..................geez.

Illegal is illegal. That said, if California were not paying for illegals babies; paying for illegals hospital bills; paying to educate children of illegals then maybe just maybe California would have the funds to find quicker ways to allow people to emigrate here. We are not against immigration, if done so people become Americans speaking American. Not living here as a foreigner living off our backs.

As far as who would do the work? Well, as soon as our government stops paying unemployment (which our taxes cannot afford) people will line up in droves to be paid to do landscaping and to bus tables and yes, even to pick fruit.

I agree with you, AmericanSueño, just feeling frustrated for those honest law abiding immigrants being given bad name by those who broke the law.

Because of that, I feel the police gives them more attention than necessary. I have read that many immigrants are returning to Mexico due to lack of documents. It will be interesting to see what effect it will have on Arizona's economy. Will the Americans then do the jobs they have been doing for USA?

The illegal immigrants makes it more difficult for those honest immigrants to get their medical care, assistance, a jump start for their own lives.

Granted there are many Americans who break the laws, look at Madoff!!!!! Even TV ministers, Jim Baker! Famous people driving drunk and getting off lightly. What kind of message is that??? Paris Hilton, for example.

People are corrupt because they chose to be corrupt.

I do believe the economy is failing due to deregulation of financial institutions and the outsourcing of our jobs....we are seeing the result of the war that doesn't seem to end.

So all the financial crisis did not come only from immigration issues, but it does play a big part in it.

Clinics are closing all across USA.

CN..

Very sad information from that website you posted, it unfortunate how present evil is in all society. And somehow it makes me feel like I need to apologize on their behalf but I wont because I did not commit those crimes just like neither did the remaining 75% of the undocumented workers that have been arrested for non violent crimes. I read about very similar atrocities committed in great numbers by citizens every single day but I guess it’s somehow different when they do it. The decline in the morality of human kind in general is trend right now and I believe personally because Everyone needs JESUS but thats a whole other argument.

I also have some info that is worthy of sharing aswell:

1. Alcohol related crashes are the leading cause of death for young Americans, between the ages of 16 and 24 years old.

2. For all Americans between 5 and 35 years of age, motor vehicle accidents are the number one cause of death. Over 50% of these accidents are caused by alcohol impaired drivers

So what can we do about this issue?? Should we flag everyone that comes across the spirits isle at savemart?? How do we identify a potential drunk that will be likely to drive under the influence?? How about we question everyone buying salt, who knows they may be getting prepped to salt the rim of their margarita or even worse their corona (We have to include surveillance by the lemons in the produce isle)..That’s a good double whammy red flag on that one make sure those folks have ID and birth certificate on hand cause you know Mexicans we like to put salt and lemon on everything!!! Let’s get all the drunks out of this country, and make everyone takin a monthly driving apptitude test..bad drivers and drunks are ruining OUR AMERICA!!!!! PROHIBITION 2010!!! Say NO TO ASIAN drivers, WOMEN drivers and people that text while driving

Makes sense don’t it??

To all you legals! Lol

You say they should be trying to clean up their own county. You are one silly son of a brick. If it was as simple as that I am sure they would rather stay in their mother county.

Stop trying to blame immigration for all the economic and Jobless problems. Get your facts strait. Or are you saying Banks and the housing market have nothing to do with it?

Say something on US born Citizens that live on Welfare their whole life and pass on the tradition on to their kids. I doubt they know how to pick a tomato maybe they don’t know that a tomato comes from a plant.

Why don’t you clean up your own county MR Editor since you find that to be the solution? You have the freedom of speech you should be able to get that done by the end of the work week.

This illegal immigration situation is not a light matter for many.... they give the immigrants a bad name, the honest immigrants who followed the law are looked upon unfavorably because of the actions of illegal immigrants... making life harder for the honest immigrants who want to make America their home.

The illegals are also making life harder for ALL Americans.

Dear Mister Jess,

Those are some pretty ugly and vicious thoughts.

Please know that this is not YOUR country. It is OUR country and OUR country is as bold and diverse as it is contentious and harmonious. You may not like it, but that's the way it is.

I served OUR country for 32 years in the U.S. Navy and I will defend to my death your right to speak freely, no matter how stupid and vulgar you choose to be.

May God bless you and grant you peace of spirit.

Wow… you are so full of it...get your facts straight before you start speaking about things you know nothing about. I know this will provoke hate and more disgruntled racists with warped sense of entitlement but that’s fine. I’m tired of arguing the real issue behind this law which is blatant racism..scapegoating and ignorance of the way US economy , supply and demand work. Go ahead keep blaming the landscaper that you hire to mow your lawn and the nanny that cares for your kids. Swear off that Mexican restaurant owned by Senor Smith that employs not Mrs Smith but authentic Mexicans to make Mexican food...Gasp!! The notion!!...OMG that means you can’t patronize Home Town Buffet!!! Blame the farm worker that takes the coveted job of harvesting your juicy Safeway fruits in the 3 digit heat, pesticide filled 8 hour less then minimum wage, no overtime paid days. Cause these immigrants pay don’t taxes.. since they get their milk and eggs from a diff store underground store that is tax free. They work for upright non-money hungry business owners that “don’t” tax their checks because they will not collect the money anyways... They are also the only people in this country that feed into the crime, Lord forbid they teach a white or black or Indian and Asian kid how to sell drugs along with an order of pan dulce. Lets see according to Arizona and you the best way to catch these mongrels is to identify them by the …..I don’t know umm color of their skin, Ricardo monte alban accent,affinity for carne asada and sarcasm??
