The three older age divisions in Tracy Babe Ruth began play last weekend in their quests to represent District 1 in the Central California Babe Ruth championships, which will begin July 16 and 17.

Scores and stats reported by Tracy Babe Ruth coaches as of Thursday, July 7, include the following:

15-year-olds Manteca 9, Tracy 6

Tracy Babe Ruth’s 15-year-old All Stars ended the Babe Ruth District 1 tournament in Lodi with a 9-6 loss to Manteca on Tuesday. Coach Ron Moppin said his whole team hit the ball well, with Eagan Hunt hitting a double and Sean Lloyd and Darren Silva getting key base hits.

Shane Fansler started on the mound, but Moppin shifted around the defense after Manteca rallied on Tracy’s defensive errors. Jackson Nott went in to pitch five innings and allowed just one run for Manteca.

Lodi beat Manteca 5-2 in the losers bracket semifinal Wednesday, and Lodi faced San Benito on Thursday afternoon for the championship.

Tracy 11, Ripon 0

Tracy’s All Stars made a comeback Monday with an 11-0 win over Ripon in their Babe Ruth District 1 tournament in Lodi. Nick Woodard pitched five innings for the win, backed up by strong hitting from his team. Silva and Lloyd each doubled to drive in two runs, and Justin Minnix and Fansler each had two base hits for the day.

Lodi 6, Tracy 0

Tracy lost to Lodi 6-0 on Saturday against tough pitching from the Lodi team. But Tracy still put up tough defense, with catcher Silva allowing no stolen bases, just as Lloyd, who caught for Tracy on Friday, also did not allow any stolen bases.

Tracy 8, Modesto 2

Nott was the winning pitcher for Tracy for Friday’s 8-2 win over Modesto. Tracy’s top hitters were Ricardo Aries, who went 4-for-4, and Fansler, who was 3-for-4.

14-year-olds

Tracy’s 14-year-olds played in a four-team double-elimination tournament in Hollister. Lodi, Manteca and San Benito are also in the bracket. Tracy lost to San Benito in the opening game in Hollister last Friday and then fell 18-3 to Manteca on Saturday. Details were not available.

13-year-olds

Tracy’s 13-year-old All Stars took a forfeit win last Thursday over Modesto and then lost 11-0 to the host team from San Benito on Saturday. Tracy was eliminated in a 9-8 loss to Lodi on Monday. Details were not available.

11-year-olds

The Tracy Babe Ruth 11-year-old All Stars started their Central California Cal Ripken State Tournament with a 7-1 win Wednesday over the Central team of District 2, based in the Central San Joaquin Valley. On Thursday, Tracy played the winner of Wednesday’s game between Clovis and the host team, San Luis Obispo. Details were not available.
