Recycle drive

Tracy Babe Ruth will have a recycling drive at Monte Vista Middle School during its games today. The league will have a booth set up all day to collect recycleable bottles and cans, which will be cashed in to raise money for the league.

WHS baseball tri-tip dinner

The West High Wolf Pack baseball team will host a dinner/dance from 6 p.m. to midnight today at the Masonic Temple, 1601 N. Tracy Blvd.

Tickets are $35 per-person, which includes a tri-tip dinner and a no-host bar. The event includes a a live auction, silent auction, raffle and dessert auction. Money raised will pay for repairs needed at West High’s baseball field and batting cages.

AASA crab feed

All-American Sports Academy will host its fourth annual crab feed today at Portuguese Hall, 430 W. Ninth St. All-you-can-eat dinner includes “Bachetti Marinated Crab,” tri-tip, pasta and salad. There will be a raffle, live and silent auctions and entertainment by Suga Shane from 95.1 KHOP.

Soccer team seeks players

The Tracy Futbol Club Gladiators under-15 boys gold-ranked team seeks new players for the upcoming tournament season. Boys born between August 1994 and July 1995 are eligible. Tryouts will be today, and players should call ahead for time and location.

Softball tryouts

Mayhem Fastpitch 10-and-under softball team will have tryouts at 10 a.m. Sunday at Mossdale Landing Park, 700 Town Centre Drive, in Lathrop. Mayhem plays in two tournaments each month across the Central Valley and will carry a 10-girl roster. Girls who are 10 years old as of Jan. 1, 2010, are eligible.

Flag football

The Mountain House Flag Football youth flag football season for ages 5 to 14 will begin July 31. The registration period runs through July 24, and teams and individuals can sign up online.

Benefit golf tourney

East Union High will host its Sober Grad Golf Tournament on April 10 at Manteca Park Golf Course, 305 N. Union Road, in Manteca. The format is a four-golfer scramble, and cost is $360 for each foursome, $95 for individual players. Fee includes green fees, cart, continental breakfast, mid-morning snack, non-alcoholic beverages, lunch and other extras. Prizes go to the first place team, and for closest-to-pin and long drive contests. There will also be raffle prizes.

Tax benefit

The Kimball High School Athletic Booster Club and three H&R Block tax return preparation offices in Tracy had teamed up to raise money for Jaguar athletic teams. The tax service will donate $25 for every tax return it prepares through April 15 for anyone who brings in a booster club coupon. To obtain a coupon, e-mail jencav5@yahoo.com.
