Alumni Report: Conference honors West grad Richardson

West High graduate Montrel Richardson, class of 2007, is the Track Athlete of the Week for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, following a pair of first-place finishes at the Black Hills State Dave Little Invitational track and field meet Saturday.

Richardson, a sophomore at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.04 seconds and the 200-meters with a time of 22.87 seconds.

Richardson previously logged a time of 6.94 in the 60 meters, making him sixth in the NSIC in that event, and his time in the 200 meters Saturday is his best yet in that event, putting him at 14th in the conference.

Richardson also plays football for the NSU Wolves as a running back.

Hurlock participate in Davis win

Michele Hurlock, a 2007 graduate of West High, was part of another win for the U.C. Davis women’s gymnastics team Saturday.

The Aggies traveled to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, where they beat the host team, 191.575-185.300, to improve to 6-1 for the season.

Hurlock contributed to the win with scores of 9.450 on the vault and 9.150 on the uneven parallel bars.
