Four West High cheer and dance teams will head to Anaheim for the United Spirit Association National Championships on Friday and Saturday. West’s varsity coed cheer team and the varsity all-girl team will compete, and the West dance team will send both its varsity and junior varsity squads. In all, the West teams will be in seven contests. The varsity dance team qualified for the national competition in November during USA’s Spirit Regional competition at Sonoma State University, and the junior varsity dance and varsity all-girl teams qualified during USA regional competition at Bear Creek High in January. The coed team qualified after the team sent in a video of its routines, and also took first place at competition in Sacramento last month.
