Tracy High freshman/sophomore girls track and field team took third place among 12 teams in its division at the San Joaquin Athletic Association/Tri-City Athletic League Invitational at Bear Creek High in Stockton on March 14.

As with all levels on Tracy’s team, the frosh/soph girls were strongest in the field events. The squad totaled 66 points, just ahead of Tokay and behind first-place Bear Creek and second-place Lincoln. Tracy’s score was based on results in the discus, pole vault, shot put and long jump.

Mireya Dander took first in the pole vault with a jump of 7 feet, 6 inches. Sommer Adams placed first in the discus with a throw of 79-1 and was first in the shot put at 29-5.

Other Tracy results were: Login Deurksen, discus, second, 75-2, and shot put, third, 24-4.5; Brooke Butcher, pole vault, second, 7-0; Lynsie Zellmen, discus, third, 60-3; Ariane Cook, pole vault, third, 7-0; Taylor Jones, discus, fifth, 58-10; Lauryn Lawson, long jump, fifth,12-5.5.

Freshman/sophomore boys

Tracy and West finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the junior varsity boys division, Tracy with 48 points, West with 40. Tracy collected the most points, 41, among all teams in the field events.

Tracy’s results were: Dominique Harrison, high jump, first, 5-8; Anthony Machoca, shot put, second, 37-4.5; Machoca, discus, second, 96-7; Elijah Mitchell, high jump, third, 5-6; Tracy, 4-by-100 relay, third, 47.56; Thomas Poole, pole vault, fourth, 9-0; Poole, discus, sixth, 85-4; Darro Byrd, high jump, fourth, 5-6; Kyle Petrucelli, 110 hurdles, sixth, 19.579.

West’s results were: Will Kaigler, 110-meter hurdles, first, 17.662; Kaigler, 300 hurdles, second, 45.636; Ronan Fitzpatrick, long jump, third, 17-6; Fitzpatrick, high jump, fifth, 5-6; Kris Merrill, shot put, third, 36-11; Greg Eaglin, 200 meters, fifth, 24.892; Eaglin, 100 meters, fifth, 11.778; West, 4-by-100 relay, fifth, 47.589.

Varsity boys

Tracy and West finished ninth and 10th, respectively, in the varsity boys competition, Tracy with 21 points and West with 20.

Tracy’s results were: Kevin Speer, discus, second, 127-9; Speer, shot put, sixth, 39-10.5; Depray Celestine, high jump, second, 5-10; Ben Burchett, 800 meters, fifth, 2:13.375; Jay Levand, pole vault, sixth, 11-0; Mark Lanfranki, discus, sixth, 116-9.

West’s results were: Jeffrey Williams, 110-meter hurdles, second, 16.455; Jeffrey Williams, long jump, sixth, 19-1; Jordan Williams, 300-meter hurdles, fourth, 44.426; Madiagne Sarr, 200 meters, fourth, 23.784; Allan Wellhousen, long jump, fifth, 19-1; Bryan Ngo, 800 meters, sixth, 2:15.255.

Varsity girls

Tracy and West finished seventh and ninth, respectively, Tracy with 24 points and West with three. West consolidated its varsity and junior varsity teams for this event.

Tracy’s results were: Nicole Loscavio, pole vault, first, 8-0; Jenessa Souza, pole vault, second, 7-0; Marlene MacMillan, high jump, third, 4-10.

West’s results were: Mary Pena, 100-meter hurdles, sixth, 19.781; Diana Trang, pole vault, sixth, 6-6; Joanna Dayrit, pole vault, sixth, 6-6.
