The lights brought out people with cameras, and this one was taken by Andrea Heath.

A slowly moving band of deep blue lights seen in the cloudless southern Tracy sky Monday night had a few people wondering Tuesday morning what the heck it was they saw.

Larry Gustafson, 49, said his neighbor Ervin Floyd banged on his door at about 7 p.m. in the Morehead Park trailer court on Chrisman Road near 11th Street and urged him to check out the unusual sight.

He said he ran outside, looked up, spotted the lights in the night sky and then ran back inside to grab binoculars. By the time he was back outside, the lights had disappeared.

Gustafson said the lights hung in the sky about 5 minutes. Sometimes they moved, he said, and at other times, only one light shone.

“It was really strange looking,” the landscape maintenance worker said.

Floyd, 36, said his kids got a little hysterical when they looked out of their bedroom window and spotted the lights.

“It looked like an LED light, like off a cop car,” Floyd said.

The plumber said the lights appeared to hover high in the sky, then “went from west to east, then back to the west and back to the east, then flew out west toward the Bay Area and disappeared.”

“This appeared to be some kind of aircraft,” he said, though it had “no blinking strobes. No red. No white. It wasn’t making any sudden movements.”

The Tracy Press received several calls Tuesday asking what the lights were. Police spokesman Sgt. Tony Sheneman was unaware of any calls to the department about the lights.

Floyd just wants to know what it was.

“It’s got be explained, because I didn’t see any fighter jets chasing it,” he joked.

Ok all you ufo believers. Its a guy flying a remote styrofome plane from a park at hidden lakes. Its electric and thats why its so quite and he has two of them and he live in modesto and works here in tracy and wanted to try it out here for the first time. He said its totally legal to fly over the park and houses and cops have even beeen next to him watching them fly. There led lights and he can turn them off and on when he wants to. The big one can look like its hoovering cause it has a glider shape to it. he a very nice guy and very good flyer and my wife and I were watching him fly it for about 20 min and the glider one can fly for up to 90 min. Not sure how people can see it in modesto and stockton. was very kewl watching him fly the so called UFOS

My boyfriend and I saw something similar in the sky in Modesto around 11/20/09. A disc shaped object that had blue "ball" shaped lights, and would hover in the sky, and then move side to side. We stopped on McHenry Ave. in Modesto to watch it for a while. He has seen the lights on three more occasions at his place of work in Ceres, and my parents have seen them in Ripon. I'm wondering why we have all seen these lights, in MORE than one place and no one has explained yet.

I was amazed to hear this story and watch the videos ! In fact and friend and I saw the same lights that appeared to be a UFO about 20 years ago in South San Jose. After reading this story, the info was described to a tee of what my friend and I saw that night ! Wow now I ask myself, I wonder if its real ?

This has got to be a joke. Remember all of the frenzy that Greg Brady caused on that one episode? It is just bed sheet, lazer light, and a whistle.

OOOOOOhhhhh....

Hey dudes, I got a fantastic deal on it at woot.com. Check it out. It's not just an airplane because it flies like a helicopter too, when you need it. The whole chassis tilts up on an axis with a sixth servo. It reminds me of a herrior with props. I can even fly it upside down. And the lights are awesome especially at night. They even threw in a spare battery for extra lazer light power. It's awesome! I'm going back to woot.com first thing tomorrow to see what else is on sale.

Ok so i was just rushed out of my house around 7:30 p.m tonight and I witnessed the blue lights or ufo to others and my step father and I have video footage recorded of the said flying object. Now I am a very skeptical person and I am rather intrigued with paranormal and ufo phenomonon and after what I witnessed tonight I can honestly say it was not a toy plane because reports are coming in that people are seeing it all the way from manteca modesto and even stockton. the object did multiple manuevers that no toy plane could do and the floresant lights were too bright if it were a mere toy plane then it would not of been as fast or be able to lift with the amount of lights you would have to have on said object. Not only That though its very dark out in that area so there would be no possible way for them to keep track of the location of the plane when the lights were off not only that but it stood still in mid air and did complete 360 flip and raised vertical to a possibly couple 1000 feet. That being said I would say it could be truly a UFO because lets face it here in our lil city of tracy were use to not having anything big ever happen here so seeing such a event could spark many different idea's that are locked within the human mind it could cause fear, stress, anxiety and etc. So I leave with this you can believe what you want but please don't be ignorant have an open mind. and for those of you who wish to talk bout this subject in person you will find my at the roasted bean tomorrow around 2 p.m.

If they ask any of you to take me to your leader, whatever you do please avoid taking them to Dick Cheney. After meeting him they may want to evaporate the entire planet.

Hello everyone, I must say that I am very surprise that no one reported this sighting to the police, including me. On that Monday night my wife and daughter were coming fromballet class and they ran into the wife to tell us about this huge lights over the fields off of Mc Arthur and Shultee as always I did not believe but my daughter force me to go out and look for this UFO with her. She is only 10 years old and has 20/20 eye sight, she said she has never seen such a bright light in her entire life. My wife said that the object was just floating over the fields but the light was so bright it look light day light around the object. If so many people witness this event it would be nice to come forward and meet at the local coffee shop and talk about it. Oscar

Excellent pictures. My thanks to those who took them. The second photo looks like what I saw.

If this were something from the Air Force or lab, then you would think they would use a color of light that wouldn't stick out to the public to draw attention. No matter what it is this is a fun story. I hope there are many other pictures out there that will be submitted that we haven't seen yet.

For anyone who figure's this was a remote controlled plane, including some of the more rude and arrogant commentator's on here, who wish to condasendenly call folk's morons ( try not to do that anymore anywhere, as it's very uncivil )............... It was far too large for such, as well as the fact that it at one point was sighted "directly Due East of City Hall" by a fellow walking down "10th Str." This was obviously too far a range for a remote controlled plane that, any "hobby enthusiast" could control or even have access to! ............... Also, from what I and the two other's, I spoke with down there on "6th Str" that night, we all agreed that it appeared to be an "orb shaped" craft. It absolutely had no wing's what so ever......Like one other fellow on here. I at first thought the Union Pacific Railroad had changed the warning beacon at the top of their microwave tower again, while driving home from work. But, soon realized it was too far above to be so. Also at that point in time it was still too far to the North East. I parked my car in the yard and then ran down to the corner. That's where I ran into a young gentleman who told me he first saw it behind City Hall............Those of us who live over here in the old part of town, have a very clear view of the "South East Skies" due to the open expance of the now nearly vacant Upper U.P. Yard..........Oh and for anyone who believes a "conveniently placed" story on Facebook about a remote controlled airplane. I'll sell you all six bridge's out at Mossdale Crossing for one hundred dollar's apiece................

Wouldn't it have to be a big light/plane or whatever it was to be seen all over Tracy? I don't see how a little remote plane would put off enough light to be seen all over Tracy.

It's not that I don't believe in UFO's, and the explanation about the plane seems plausible, but it could also be the Leonid Meteor, which is very active in November each year. From what I've been reading, this year's show has begun in full force. Here's a link to a story about lights in Yolo County Sunday night that might help explain what some folks are seeing now.

Enjoy the view and share with the kids. We sit in the backyard in lounge chairs with all the lights off and count "shooting stars". It's WAY COOLl!

I SEEN THAT SAME BLUE FUZZY LIGHT WHILE I WAS AT THE 99 CENT STORE AROUND 600-700 PM ON 11/9. LIVERMORE LAB ??? PUT THE HIPPIE CABBAGE DOWN. I WAS ACOMMPANIED WITH MY FRIEND AND WE WERE OBSERVING THE LIGHT FOR ABOUT 35-40 MINUTES. AT FIRST I HAD THOUGHT THE BLUE LIGHT WAS THE TOP OF THE RADIO TOWER OFF OF MACARTHUR DR. BY THE TRAIN TRACKS. I LIGHT WOULD BE VISIBLE FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN FADE OUT WHEN I FOSRT OBSERVED IT. I HAD READ THESE BLUE/WHITE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY SIGHTED IN THE MODESTO AREA (ROUGHLY) FEW OTHERS HAVE SAID IT IS A GLIDER. I DISAGREE. MOVED WAY TO FAST FOR ANY PLANE/HELICOPTER/GLIDER/RC PLANE TO MANUVER THE WAY IT DID. MOTIONED SIDE TO SIDE & UP AND DOWN. AS I SAID, IT WOULD FADE OUT, THEN RE-APPEAR IN A COMPLETLY DIFFERENT AREA IN THE SKY. STRANGE ? INDEED. UFO ? WHY THE HELL NOT. CHEERS!

If this came from those idiots at Livermore Lab they have been planning this for years. Anything requiring LED's or aircraft would require millions of dollars and 20 committees. Some pompous DOE shirt would be taking credit anyway.

Facebook tells the story, good fake out.
