EDITOR,

An interesting article about monogamy, Ms. Masood (“The strange state of monogamy,” Wednesday’s Tracy Press, by Samina Masood).

Some may believe that the U.S. ban on monogamy may be attributed to our base roots in Christianity, but they would be in error, as this country has all but completed the separation of church and State.

I submit that one thing our governments — on all levels — are good at is inundating us with laws to protect us from ourselves. Thus, some wise persons in power naturally felt that any man who would attempt to live in a state of marriage with more than one woman would face an exponentially increased risk of suicide or insanity.

We should all be grateful.

Now, before I’m inundated with hate mail, I’m just having a good tease, ladies.

That's funny Mr. Foster, I was thinking the same thing in reverse. My husband always says, "I dont think I could handle another wife" and I say " Yeah, I don't hink I could handle another child"(being I fell like my hubby is my other child sometimes. :)

Monogamously challenged are you...? Try Mormonism and polygamy. Its the foundation of that religion practiced by its founders Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. The practice was ended to enable Utah to achieve US statehood; else they would still be practicing that behavior today
