Championship tournaments for Tracy Babe Ruth youth baseball will wrap up this week with the final games Thursday and Friday. All games are at 5:30 p.m. at Monte Vista Middle School.

In the 11-12 Major division, the Athletics will face the Tigers on Thursday. The Athletics earned their spot in the championship game Monday with a 4-2 win over the Braves. Mojo Atwal led the Athletics in scoring with a two-run homer in the third, and Alex Camarillo scored twice after he got two base hits and twice stole second and third. He scored on a sacrifice fly early in the game and took home on a wild pitch in the fifth.

The Major division Tigers made it to the championship with an 8-7 win over the Giants. The teams were tied 6-6 in extra innings, and the Tigers took an 8-6 lead in the top of the eighth. The Giants scored one more in the bottom of the eighth and had runners in scoring position when third baseman Austin Cookley fielded a grounder and made a play to catcher Peter Creasman at the plate to prevent the tying run. The Tigers got the final out when Creasman tagged out a runner who tried to steal home on a passed ball.

In the 9-10 Minor division, the Giants will face the Red Sox on Thursday. The Giants took a 9-8 win over the White Sox on Monday for a spot in Thursday’s championship game. The White Sox took a five-run lead in the first inning, but the Giants tied it up in the second with a rally highlighted by Aaron Wagner’s bases-loaded double to bring in three runs. The Sox pulled ahead in the fourth and made it 8-5 in the sixth on Mike Manley’s two-run triple. In the bottom of the sixth, the Giants loaded the bases and scored one run on a walk before Kyle Silveira bashed a three-run triple to bring in the winning run.

The Red Sox, who were 14-1-1 in the regular season, had a bye in the first round and beat the Yankees in the second round Saturday. They won their game against the Athletics on Tuesday to gain a spot in the championship game Thursday.

In the 7-8 A bracket, the Orioles took an 8-7 win over the Dodgers on Monday to make it to Thursday’s championship, where they play the winner of the Astros vs. D’Backs game played on Tuesday. (No final was available as of press time.)

In the 7-8 B bracket, the Yankees will play in the Friday title game after they beat the Pirates on Tuesday. They face the winner of today’s game between the Blue Jays and Giants.

The whole season has been more babysitting (than coaching) of easily half of the kids on the Phillies team. While I was very happy with several of the kids on the team that showed great improvement and a will to do better each game, there were also unfortunately a few kids that would rather just not be there..and thats sad for the ones that DO want to do well and win. I praise the parents and kids that worked hard all year (and thank those dads/moms that helped make their kids better). AGAIN, the only one that played well (2 2Bs, 1 1B) and pitched his GUTS out (4Inn, 10 KS, NO ERs) was my son that day..and this was the case in a few games throughout the year. If you were at the game(which Im assuming you were) you surely must have witnessed that none of the other boys on the Phillies played well at all that day. Was he SOLELY responsible for our success in EVERY game...of course not..there were a lot of boys that contributed throughout the year..many of them 9 year olds in fact.

Phillyparent09..if your son was one of those boys that YOU worked with and improved throughout the year and showed heart and dedication I praise you ..if YOU were NOT ...then you have some parenting/coaching to do on your own time. We coaches put in a lot of our own time (and I personally love working with kids that WANT to get better) and we ask only that the parents do their own share to make sure their kids are out there with a purpose should you chose to sign them up for ANY sport. We arent there to babysit..we are there to make them better ball players and hopefully better young men/boys as a result of their experience. All of our kids arent great athletes but they all can and should be great teammates

To whatajoke99...Its nice to see that your son and Papa Joes grandson were the only players to show up for the playoff game. Both are good players but they were not soley responsible for the teams success. EVERY boy on that team contributed. You essentially blame the loss on all but your two boys. That loss is because the entire team was not up to par that particular day. As far as umpiring, it was awful all year and he was no different.

First of all im not putting parents down, im simply defending our coaches as well as our boys! And second maybe the parents that cant take the heat should get out of the kitchen! If your gonna dish out dirt on our coaches, dont think were not going to reply on their behalf! I can care less where she got her information from, the fact that she's willing to write about her own son's team, and bad mouth our coaches for whatever her reasons were, is not o.k. with me. She defenitely has the right to her own opinion, but if your going to voice it, be an adult about it and address it with your coaches. Dont slander them, act like you like them, and when they walk away stab'em in the back!!! Talk about being two face your the worse kind. FYI, CuriousGeorge, your quick to defend (boysmom2) where were you during the season? And since your on top of everthing you would know every kid on our team was included, now what was absorbed out on the field was totally up to that kid!!!

And about me spinning answers to make myself feel good, well I gotta tell you I love the fact that you people LOVE TO HATE US!!!!

Well, I hate to say to, boysmom is correct. The info she's relaying is from a board member. If you don't agree with it or her, so be it. I would think we should be able to trust what a board member tells us. And FYI, there were plenty of parents at All-Star practices and tryouts. Must you spin your answers to make yourself feel good? As for involvement, maybe not all parents know the sport to help their kids and need the coaches help with skills and they should help if that is the case. Not everyone is a sports person, but that should NOT make kids be excluded because a parent is unable to teach them or help them. You need to know the situation before you condemn parents by putting them down.

You obviously dont have a clue what your talking about. There were plenty of coaches out at allstar practices, your just not happy with who got chosen ! Sounds like a personal problem to me! Key word They did show interest, odd thing you would think there would be more parents that did the same for their boys!

Now the fact that the league seperated the 9 and 10 year olds for allstars was totally up to the league, so reguardless that they were chosen or not, our Whitesox coaches would have still been showing up even if they did not get chosen as coaches, for the simple fact of supporting their boys!!!!

Odd thing, after many parents inquired how All-Star coaches are chosen, I did think to ask. All coaches are asked/offered to come out and help. The two that were chosen for 9 year olds were the only coaches for that age to show up, so it makes sense that they got the job. They showed interest.

FIRST OF ALL LETS JUST CONGRATULATE ON BOTH TEAMS PLAYING A VERY GOOD GAME AND NOT TAKE ANYTHING FROM THEM BY MAKING EXCUSES AND TALKING ABOUT KIDS PITCHES...(OHYEAH) IF YOU HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE MANAGING OF THE COACHES YOU COULD OF TALKED TO THEM DURING THE SEASON AND VOICED YOUR THOUGHTS THEN...THESE MEN ARE OUT THERE ON THE OWN TIME COACHING YOUR KIDS BECAUSE THEY ENJOY DOING WHAT THEY DO. IF YOU FEEL THAT YOUR CHILD MAY HAVE BEEN OVER LOOKED DUE TO HIS EXPERINCE ON THE FIELD THEN I SAY THIS TO YOU AS A PARENT YOU TOO CAN COACH YOUR SON. TAKE HIM TO THE PARK PLAY CATCH TEACH HIM WHAT YOU KNOW. OR PAY FOR TRAINING . JUST DONT COME ON HERE AND TALK SMACK ABOUT THE WHITESOX COACHING AND PITCHING. THERE IS NO NEED FOR THIS.

This is in response to the White Sox-Phillies game. First of all, congrats to the Red Sox for winning the championship. Secondly congrats to the WHite Sox. Unfortunately the only Phillies that showed up to play that day was my son the pitcher and our catcher. Im not taking anything away from the White Sox pitcher..he threw strikes and our boys (except for my son with 2 doubles and a single) werent hitting him. He did a great job. I do need to address however that I did know nothing about the brother umpiring being related to a player on the White Sox until the 5th inning. I must admit I was very upset with the inconsistency and 'pinching' of the strike zone. I normally dont make an big issue over strike zones so long as there is consistency. Intentionally or not there was some bias. Did it cause us to give up 5 runs? No. Did it cause me to pull my son...perhaps. Bottom line, hats off to the White Sox and the White Sox coaches doing a great job. Good Luck 9 yr old all stars as well representing Tracy.

Adding further comment to below, If you feel you can do a better job then the Whitsox Coaches then I suggest you get out there next year and manage your own team. These coaches have been coaching together for the past five years! Putting their time and effort into some kids that just dont want or have the desire to even be out there. But there out there because parents like you are forcing them to play. You claim they are inexpierenced,

well learning how to play ball has to come from you parents at home first. Our Coaches are'nt magician's they are there to teach the basic fundamentals, And to say coaching was at a minimal until they were chosen for Allstars is a joke , you obviously were'nt @ all the practices. So you tell me why did they get chosen for Allstar coaches, they must of been doing something right! Its sad that parents like you will sit here and bad mouth the coaches, but yet you wont get involved to help your own child out!

I would just like to respond to you people that are hating on the Whitesox. First of all grow up and stop being a sore loser,or is this how you teach your children how to accept a loss, by blaming the umpire! That umpire did'nt score those five runs. The league was very well aware of the boys being related and so were the Whitesox. He has umped several of the games even with the result of the Whitesox losing, it is not the responsibility of the managers to determine who umps the games. This is TBR's responsibility and if I can remember right Papa Joe was also aware, and did'nt seem to have a problem with it. The fact of the matter is, you thought the Phillie's had this game before we even stepped on the field! You had no respect for our boy's and to go as far as calling us far inferior to the Phillie's, show some class you are talking about 9/10 year olds.... and to call my boy a lob ball pitcher, well the Phillie's sure could'nt hit off this lob ball pitcher! Oh my bad are you gonna blame that on the ump also....You do have nerve to put this out for everyone to read but yet you hide behind your user name. I will say this from a parent to a parent or to everyone. I am above this, to talk about kids is just not my style, you abviously dont have nothing better to do other than make excuses. And atleast I can give do respect to those who've earned it. Your right the Phillie's pitcher is by far a great pitcher, but to talk down my son I just wont allow it, and im sure there's plenty of people that feel the same way. Give him the respect he deserves he did pitch his but off, I beg to differ or to allow anyone to bad mouth my son, he may not have the speed of the other pitcher but he sure had the accuracy! You and nobody else can take that away... A WINS a WIN baby now stop crying!!!!

Adding further to the comment below..this whole group of 10 year olds this year has the potential to be a very special team. All 14 of these boys are hard working and loaded with talent and heart. It will be great to see the chemistry build over the next few weeks.

ON the bright side...the 10 yr old all stars should represent Tracy VERY well this year. The team is blessed to have 2 of the best 10 year olds not only in Tracy but in probably all of Northern California. These two boys are phenomenal pitchers and battled it out earlier this season to a 0-0 tie..both striking out 11 batters each in 4 innings. The 9-10 all stars last year won district before going to state and losing 3 games..but I have a feeling that this team ,with the pitching combined with the anticipated excellent hitting and fielding, will do very well not only at the district level but at the state level and hopefully beyond that..well into the summer. If anybody would like to donate funds to the 10 year old Tracy Babe Ruth team please get in touch with Papa Joe Saenz. Money would be helpful to possibly get these boys matching matching helmets and possibly even cleats, bags, etc. Lets support these boys in Tracy...TBR is hosting the District tournament this year starting the 27th.

Odd thing, the White Soxs manager was made aware of the players brother umping. He choose to ignore the issue. I agree the White Soxs Team was inferior to put it mildly. Coaching was mimimal at best until the All Stars Coach was chosen for 9 year olds, then practices got intense. Those practices should have happened from day one to mold/create a good team. Also, favoritism was an issue as well. The less knowledgable players spent most of their time in the dugout or running like crazy for not hitting or catching the ball. These are inexperienced players with no guidence, so go just frustrate them further. No one worked with them to help or guide them to be the best they could be. Also, the manager insulted players if plays went bad or how he didn't want them to go. Lots of saddness this year. Kids cried, kids feelings were hurt. They just didn't want to play and give anything back anymore and I can't blame them. Don't get me wrong, the manager is a nice person, but illiterate to being kid friendly or how to coach. The two coaches he had were okay, but the manager seemed to control them too.

Well lets really get into this TBR problem I have been fighting with them going on the second year becouse there are people on the board that bend rules at times for there favorites or freinds it all started last year when I noticed at the allstar games in Kerman california for the 7-8 when we(parents) sat and watched these teams from Chowchilla Kerman fresno clovis all come to the game in very nice uniforms with all the players having matching bag, shoes, and there were even teams that had like three difrent uniforms for there home games and away games and I found out that the teams down there all have set players who are picked at the earlyest stages of babe ruth like right after T-ball they are watched and pick the best players they actualy scout out these players to play on these allstar teams and they practice all year around and they pick 9 players those 9 players play all turniments they pick the best and they stay togetherfrom t-ball all the way through to oldest age group three alternats are picked new every season but the starting 9 never change all the way through the league till they are to old to play babe ruth or if they move or what ever happens I found all this out becouse it acualy bothered me becouse we looked like we did not fit in so i called talk to the comishiner for the area of the league and he was very nice and probly talked to me for about 1hr on the phone I told him we in tracy will never have a fighting chance in a all star game becouse our allstars are not picked and practiced like that and he said that is just the way we do it down here and if you are not doing there that is the choice of the TBR league who eather may not know how to set that up or they just now interested it is alot of work and can be very time consuming as well as expensive for perents and theye just dont want the pain of it we have fund raiser out here to help he said As far Philies go I also dont think that board member should be able to coach teams as did MR Joe Saenz and I know papa joe has been around awile but you know some times there are things that get overlooked like no showe up to games becouse of not having there picting staf show up to play becouse theye were sick or for what ever reason if you dont show it should be a forfit NOT a rescedule there is alot of problems with our TBR and starts with the people making the disitions how to make calls about situatins and WOW is there alot of favoritisum with certain board members who like some teams more then others and unfortunatley this teaches our kids to be just like that becouse beleve me these kids listen to every complaint there coach makes about babe ruth or even the parents who know what is going on but never speak up it is sad becouse there is some really true talent out there and the ones who donthave the fenom talent still have played a great season and learned things about b-bal they never knew before and have gaind talent as a b-ball player even though they did not make allstars they have impoved on there game and that is what babe ruth b-ball is suposed to be about I have sent e-mails to the president of tbr and asked to get our comishiners e-mail address to know suprise to me he never answered my e-mail with that address I had just said I would love to talk to him or her but anyway to the giants and the red sox well done and good luck and who ever wins this turniment congrats and to those who lose it is ok becouse all the kids from t-ball to the big kids that play each and every one of you are a winner becouse ever child out learned something during the season and impoved on the perfomance in b-ball sorry if i sound angry but it just upsets me that the board does not fix the problem or get rid of it

Unfortunately the 2 best teams (along with the REd Soz) in the 9-10 division wont be in the championship. The Phillies won the league championship with a 14-0-2 record and were essentially screwed out of their first round game against the far inferior White Sox. The home plate umpire was the older brother of one of the WHite Sox players and it was disgustingly OBVIOUS that he was screwing over the best pitcher in the league for the Phillies yet expanding the strike zone for the lob ball pitcher for the WHite Sox. Its very sad that Tracy Babe Ruth allows siblings to umpire games in which their brothers are playing in. This is one of the main reasons why this league is losing so many of the better athletes who are going to travel ball. Its unfortunate but TBR is not a very well run organization and its only getting worse.... GL Giants and REd Sox
