The Wolf Pack baseball team was limited to three base hits in an 8-0 loss to Lodi in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I South playoffs Monday in Lodi.

West coach Roger Gallardo said that while West (10-14, 6-4 Tri-City Athletic League) came out flat the Lodi Flames (18-10, 12-3 San Joaquin Athletic Association) came out strong in the second inning, collecting five runs on five hits to jump into the lead.

West senior starting pitcher Mitch Cowles allowed seven runs, six of them earned, over 4 1/3 innings, and nine hits. Sophomore reliever Jacob Rebar gave up one run and one hit.

Cowles and juniors Jack Kelley and Gabe Culver got West's hits.

Even with a loss on Monday Gallardo said the season was mostly positive, considering that West had only a few returning starters at the beginning of the season.

"You always want more and expect more," Gallardo said. "I'm grateful for waht they were able to do."
