Track and field: Kimball’s Jackson is top sprinter at Davis meet

Athletes from Kimball and West high schools fielded some of the top athletes at the Woody Wilson Classic track and field meet at U.C. Davis on Saturday .

Representing Kimball High, senior Damon Jackson won both the 100 meter dash (10.92) and 200 meter dash (21.86), and his teammate, senior Jodann Johnson Brown placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.18).

Among Kimball High’s girls, sophomore Julia Price won both the 100 (12.76) and 200 (26.35).

West High sophomore Ivie Eboigbodin won the long jump (17-5.25) and was part of the West relay team to win the 4x100 meter relay (50.17). Also on that team were sophomores Herbie Jo Dela Cruz and Alexis Lockard and senior Lia Burrell.

West vs. Tokay

West High track and field teams all move to 2-0 in the Tri-City Athletic League with wins at all levels against visiting Tokay High on April 17.

Sophomore Ivie Eboigbodin was the leading athlete for the Wolf Pack, winning four events in the varsity girls competition and leading the team to a 93-43 win.

Eboigbodin won the 100-meter hurdles (16.42), the 100-meter dash (12.98) plus the 200 (26.83) and the triple jump (31 feet, 8 inches). Also winning their events were seniors Lia Burrell, long jump (14-11), Elise Green, high jump (4-8), Geraldine Vasquez, pole vault (8-0) and Alyssa Duncan, discus (80-4), and sophomore Stephanie Segur, shot put (27-1.5).

West also won the varsity boys competiton 82-54. Athletes winning their events were senior Huruy Zeratsion, 400 (54.52), junior Elias Rodriguez, 300 hurdles (45.07), sophomore Matthew Roe, long jump (20-3.5), sophomore Christian Velasco, triple jump (38-2), freshman Zayed Zaman, high jump (5-8), senior Michael Juarez, pole vault (13-0), and junior Lautaime Alailefaleula, shot put (41-3).
