Tracy High’s soccer team won its non-league match against St. Mary’s High in Stockton on Monday.

The Bulldogs (12-1, 4-0 San Joaquin Athletic Association) came home with the 2-1 win over the Rams (8-5-1, 2-0 Tri-City Athletic League) in a game that put the traditional league leaders up against each other.

Tracy coach Nate Perry reported that the Bulldogs were ahead 1-0 at halftime. Sophomore Ashley Hallen scored with an assist from junior Jenna Wesely, who collected a corner kick from senior Cailie Chayrez.

The second half remained close, but Tracy made it a 2-0 game after senior Jill Finney passed to senior Daesha Brown, who scored on a one-on-one shot at the goal.

St. Mary’s scored with about 10 minutes left after a Rams player got a foot on the ball in the middle of a crowd in front of the Tracy goal.

It was the only one of nine shots on goal to make it past sophomore goalie Taylor Boren, whom Perry credited as one of the Bulldogs’ main advantages Monday.

“Without her playing today, the result could have easily been different,” Perry said.

Tokay 6, West 1

The Wolf Pack had some scoring opportunities early in the first half, but in spite of persistent pressure, they were largely unable to penetrate the Tokay defense Friday at Steve Lopez Stadium.

The offense for West (2-3-1, 1-1 Tri-City Athletic League) — including seniors Maddie Wright and Salina Smith and juniors Sandy Barbosa and Natalia Bijak — made several attacks early in the game, but the Tokay defense was quick to get in position and allowed only a couple of shots on the goal.

Tokay (5-5, 1-1 TCAL) scored first in the 14th minute when officials called foul on West and the Tigers got a free kick from just outside the penalty box. The Tigers also scored in the 25th minute on a long shot over the head of West goalie Saman Latifi.

West scored its lone goal in the 27th minute. Wright brought the ball up the right side and crossed it to Barbosa, who was in position in the middle of Tokay’s defenders and made the shot.

Tokay kept up the pressure in the second half, scoring four more goals, while West had only a few opportunities on offense.

West’s freshman-sophomore team beat Tokay 11-0. Azaleis Caluza scored four goals for West, Amairani Morales scored three, Ayana Estrella scored two and Taylor Hanes and Alondra Gonzalez scored one each.

Kimball 3, Lathrop 0

The Jaguars won a Valley Oak League contest Friday at Lathrop High.

Kimball (5-2, 4-1 VOL) had a 2-0 lead over Lathrop (5-10-1, 2-5 VOL) at halftime.

Sophomore Samantha Tran scored in the 17th minute on a pass from senior Mireya Magana, and junior Cynthia Soto took a pass from junior Abby Dyer and scored in the 31st minute with a chip shot over the goalkeeper’s head.

Tran scored again two minutes into the second half on a corner kick from junior Taylor Hopkins. Freshman goalie Amanda Leal had seven saves for Kimball, and freshman goalie Paige Ryback had three saves.
