The company’s director of development, Eric Teed-Bose, said that Trimark is in talks with several businesses interested in leasing space adjacent to Wicklund’s Market in its retail property on Wicklund Crossing. That center is empty except for the market and Mountain House Dental.
Because interest is strong, Trimark is pursuing plans to build a second retail center with 40,000 square feet of space at the corner of DeAnza and Mascot boulevards.
“We’re contemplating more buildings,” Teed-Bose said. “It’s not a done deal. We’re trying to do pre-leasing now. Once we sign up 12,000 square feet, then we’ll break ground.”
The new site would be a flexible office-industrial building, designed to accommodate a variety of businesses. He said it would be able to house stores and eateries, medical offices and even some industrial uses.
“We’re talking to eight to nine other parties to lease a space in that (Wicklund Crossing) building,” he said. “But there’s so much demand, we’re talking to roll them into this new building.”
The new retail center would be structured to allow tenants to use a little or a lot of space.
So far, interested tenants include a coffee shop, a bistro and a bakery, sandwich and pastry shop that would serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, Teed-Bose said.
Designs for the center at DeAnza and Mascot boulevards began nearly seven years ago, but it had to be shelved when the economy went bad, he said.
Once Trimark signs enough businesses to fill 12,000 to 15,000 square feet of the site, it will start building, Teed-Bose said. He said construction would take 14 to 18 months to complete and the center would open with tenants in place.
