Millennium senior pitcher Manjot Atwal threw a no-hitter in the Falcon baseball team’s 4-0 win at Chavez High in Stockton on Saturday .
Atwal struck out eight Chavez batters over seven innings, allowed two walks and hit one batter with a pitch.
The Falcons (2-0) had three hits for the day: an RBI single by junior Eddie Diaz and singles by senior R.J. McKee and freshman Steven Blackwell.
Tracy 4, Castro Valley 3
The Bulldogs (4-0) came through with a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to overcome Castro Valley’s 3-1 lead Saturday at Monte Vista Middle School.
Tracy’s six hits for the day included a single and a double for senior Braeden Oki, who also batted in two runs. Senior Anthony Nunez and junior Jacob George also drove in runs.
Tracy starting pitcher Brett Curtis, a senior, gave up two hits and a run; sophomore Brett Mansell allowed three hits and a run; and closing pitcher Noah Denoyer, also a sophomore, got the win after giving up three hits and one unearned run.
Foothill 5, West 0
The Wolf Pack (0-2) got off to a good start at Foothill High in Pleasanton on Saturday , with starting sophomore pitcher Alonzo Perez going 3-1/3 innings and allowing no hits or runs. Junior reliever John Barwig took the loss after giving up three runs, one of them earned, in the third inning. West’s best chance to score came in the top of the seventh, when junior Jack Kelley slammed a double down the left-field line, but he was stranded at third base.
Tracy 7, Kimball 4
The Bulldogs held a 7-1 lead at the end of four innings Friday at Monte Vista Middle School. The Jaguars (1-1) scored three runs in the sixth but couldn’t sustain the rally.
Tracy collected 10 hits, including two each by seniors Dustin Dibble and Anthony Nunez, junior Jacob George and sophomore Thomas Greely. Dibble and Nunez batted in two runs each.
Tracy starting pitcher Chandlyr Metal, a freshman, gave up three hits over three innings and allowed one earned run for the win. Statistics for the Kimball team were not available.
Tracy’s sophomores beat Kimball 10-0 in five innings. Tracy pitcher Ricky Staas got the win, and David Brooks contributed a two-out, two-RBI single in the third.
Millennium 17, Turlock Christian 0
The Falcons amassed 15 hits against Turlock Christian on Friday at Tracy Learning Center. Atwal went 3-for-3 to lead the way, including a triple and five RBIs. Senior Spencer Blackwell had two hits and batted in three runs. Blackwell, the starting pitcher, got the win after he allowed one hit and struck out eight batters over three innings.
Tracy 2, East Union 1
The Bulldogs won their second game of the season in extra innings Wednesday at East Union High in Manteca.
Senior starting pitcher Anthony Nunez went six innings, gave up two hits and a run and struck out seven batters, and sophomore Noah Denoyer got the win after he pitched two innings and allowed two hits and no runs and struck out two.
George and senior Braeden Oki had two hits each, and senior Aaron Denholm batted in a run.
Tracy’s sophomores beat East Union 1-0. Starting pitcher Cameron Hoff gave up one hit and no runs over three innings for the win, and relievers Bryce Keeney and Brooks allowed no hits. Robert Garcia batted in Tracy’s only run.
