A Mass will be celebrated Tuesday for Lawrence Walter “Larry” Abrie, 91, of Tracy, who died Feb. 13 at Kaiser Permanente Modesto Medical Center.

Mr. Abrie was born April 3, 1922, in Berkeley and graduated from Berkeley High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Navy with the Pacific Fleet from 1942 to 1945 on a submarine chaser and the USS Pickaway. Later, he worked as a firefighter in Berkeley from 1950 to 1975.

He and his wife moved to Tracy from Lodi two years ago to be near family.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Stacie Abrie of Oregon; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Mildred Skelton Abrie; a daughter, Lisa Paulette Abrie; parents, Sarah Anna and George Abrie; two brothers, George Abrie and Bill Abrie; and a granddaughter.

Tuesday’s Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. Arrangements will be handled by Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave.
