The Wolf Pack took care of business Wednesday, sinking 10 3-point shots in a 72-61 victory at Tokay High in Lodi.
Three of those 3-pointers were scored by junior Elijah Tuando, who had 13 points for the night. West (17-7, 6-1 Tri-City Athletic League) consistently outscored Tokay (11-13, 3-4 TCAL) through the first three quarters.
Senior Kenneth Daye led the Wolf Pack with 20 points, senior Alvin Crenshaw scored 18 and senior Kenneth Thompson scored 10.
The win confirms West’s place in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoffs, as the top four teams from the TCAL qualify for the postseason. West, which is in second place in the league, faces first-place St. Mary’s tonight in Stockton.
Tracy 84, Lodi 80
The Bulldogs needed a big third-quarter comeback after missing their first-half shots Wednesday in Lodi and allowing the Flames to pull ahead 47-40 at halftime — and they got it.
Tracy (12-9, 4-3 SJAA) came alive in the third. Senior Damon Stroup hit three of his six 3-point shots and gave Tracy a 69-52 lead after three quarters. Lodi (11-11, 3-4 SJAA) attempted a fourth-quarter comeback but fell short.
Stroup led the Bulldogs with 23 points. Juniors Druce Asah and Khareym Watson scored 13 each, and senior Josh Brakkee scored 11 points and had 14 rebounds.
Manteca 66, Kimball 65
The Jaguars made a last-minute run at the Manteca Buffaloes in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s Valley Oak League game in Manteca but finished one point short.
Kimball coach Joe Lawrence said the Jaguars (14-9, 4-6 VOL) trailed all night but chipped away at Manteca’s (14-9, 6-4 VOL) lead in the fourth quarter. Kimball alsos intensified its defensive press to take a 65-64 lead with a 30 seconds left. Manteca got the go-ahead shot with eight seconds left on the clock and denied Kimball a chance to take back the lead.
Senior Jonah Laguana scored 23 points for Kimball, senior Ben Juarez scored 15 and senior J.D. Schmidt scored 13.
Delta Charter 80, Langston Hughes Academy 39
It took the first quarter for the Delta Charter boys to build their momentum, but by the second quarter, the Dragons were outplaying the Titans on both ends of the court and were headed for a victory in Stockton.
Junior Dramell Pitts scored 20 points for Delta Charter, junior Mario Perez Jr. scored 16 and junior Deandre Ragsdale scored 11 points and had 10 rebounds.
Sierra Ridge-Rite of Passage 60, Millennium 50
The Millennium High Falcons (7-13, 2-3 Central California Athletic Alliance) traveled to San Andreas for a loss Friday to Sierra Ridge-ROP (6-5, 3-2 CCAA). Senior Derritt Scarver led the Falcon offense with 14 points, senior Marques Shanks scored 13 and junior Isaiah Williams scored 12.
