Local roundup: Classic gymnasts medal in Las Vegas

Classic Gymnastics of Tracy traveled to the Lady Luck Invitational in Las Vegas from Friday, Jan. 17 to Sunday, Jan. 19.

Erika Pulliam, 14, led Classic’s level 8 team to a fifth-place finish (105.9) out of nine teams. She was first all-around with a score of 37.45, with top marks in the vault (9.45), uneven bars (9.35) and balance beam (9.2). Her teammates included Katelyn Garay, 14, who was second on the bars (9.4) in her group, and Jada Haynes, 14, who placed third on the bars (8.75) in her group.

Competing for Classic at level 7 were Romi Tsang, 12, who placed second on the bars (9.5), and Taylor Vu, 13, who was second on the floor exercise (9.425).

In level 6 Brielle Magaoay, 8, won the gold medal in the floor exercise (9.6), and Kaiya Panomvana, 9, was fifth on the bars (9.05).


Spicy Pickles second at Founders Cup

Tracy Youth Soccer League’s girls under-12 Spicy Pickles brought home second-place medals from the Northern California Founder's Cup Tournament after the semifinal and championship games on Jan. 11 at Mary Grogan Community Park in Modesto.

The Spicy Pickles won three of four games in the tournament, including a 2-1 win over the Manteca Lady Earthquakes in the semifinals. Madeline McLeod and Meredith Hagler scored the Pickles’ goals, with assists from Andrea Picos and Hana Lucero. Arianna Graziano had two saves in the goal, and Skyler Hallen had three saves.

The Pickles lost the final 5-0 to the Clovis Francher Creek Comets.

During the league season, the Spicy Pickles went 6-1-1, scoring 31 goals while eight were scored against them.
