People who live or work in any of the three counties can be nominated in one of 12 categories, including good Samaritans, medical workers, military service members and law enforcement officers.
The Red Cross is also inviting
K-12 students to consider the nature of heroism by entering a Hero Essay Contest. Essayists should choose a hero and explain what makes that person heroic. Judges will choose one essay by a child in kindergarten to sixth grade and one by a seventh- to 12th-grader. Winning entries will be read aloud at the Heroes Breakfast, April 9 in Lodi.
Hero nomination forms can be downloaded from www.redcross.org/CapitalRegion or can be requested by calling Liza Cruz at 644-2828 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline to send in a nomination is Feb. 14.
