Kimball High’s boys basketball team made a second-half comeback for a 62-60 win at Stagg High on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
The Jaguars (9-2) trailed 29-20 at the half and launched into the third quarter with 16 unanswered points. It was back and forth after that as Delta Kings (2-7) rallied for a 38-36 at the end of three. Kimball outscored Stagg again in the fourth to secure the win.
Senior Bryer Peet sank five 3-point shots and totaled 22 points for the night. Senior J.D. Schmidt scored 16 and senior Jonah Laguana scored nine, including 7 of 7 shots from the free-throw line.
West 56, Turlock 45
The West High Wolf Pack and the Turlock High Bulldogs played a close game Monday, Dec. 16, in West High’s Steve Thornton Gymnasium.
West (8-1) consistently outrebounded Turlock (7-1), with nine rebounds by senior Alvin Crenshaw, eight for junior Spencer Carroll and seven each by seniors Kenneth Daye and Kenneth Thompson.
Midway through the fourth quarter, West took the lead for good with shots from Daye — who scored 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter — and Thompson, who scored 14 points for the night.
Delta Charter 55, Tioga 31
The Delta Charter High Dragons ruled the court in their home game Monday against Tioga High, the first game of Mountain Valley League play.
Delta Charter (7-1, 1-0 MVL) held a 28-9 lead at the half and continued to outscore Tioga (0-3, 0-1 MVL) through the second half.
Senior Jordan Thornton and juniors Deandre Ragsdale and Dramell Pitts scored 12 points each, and senior Andrew Silva had 13 rebounds.
