Dr. Julius Hastings, a chemistry professor from San Joaquin Delta College, put on a chemistry magic show for West High Space & Engineering Academy and Advanced Placement chemistry students Friday, Nov. 22. Hastings ended the demonstrations with a boom as he pops balloons using a lit candle. San Joaquin Delta College sophomores Ashley Grover, 20, and Ilyssa Evans, 20, accompanied Hastings and, among other experiments, demonstrated the chemistry behind glow sticks.
