Banta, a lanky 7-month-old, is a companionable cat and gets along well with people and animals of all kinds. He purrs often and seeks out playmates and affection. Animal Rescue of Tracy volunteers expect Banta to grow into a large adult cat. The nonprofit rescue group also has many cats and kittens of all ages, colors and coat lengths available for adoption. Pet adoption fairs for dogs and cats run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays in the Macy’s wing of the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road. For information: 642-4324 or www.animalrescuetracy.org.

Carson, a 1-year-old neutered pit bull mix, needs a home. Tracy Animal Shelter, 370 Arbor Road, is open from noon to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For information: 831-6364 or “City of Tracy Animal Services” on Facebook.
