Police Log: Man calls police after brother shot in the back

Police are investigating the shooting of a man on the 100 block of East Seventh Street around 3:02 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20.

The victim’s brother called police to say his brother was shot once in the back. The shooter reportedly drove away in an unknown direction. The victim was taken by ambulance to San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp.

Tracy police received 1260 calls for service from Thursday, Oct. 17 through Wednesday, Oct. 23. The following is a sampling of those calls.

Wednesday, Oct. 23:

1:12 a.m.: Police arrested an unknown teen for an outstanding no bail warrant for a flight and escape charge near B and Third streets. The teen was taken to juvenile hall.

11:25 a.m.: A resident reported seeing a woman and two boys abusing a dog near Grant Line Road and Tracy Boulevard. The caller said they were seen dragging the dog around and one boy threw the dog into a trash can. Police were unable to locate them.

8:05 p.m.: Police arrested a 22-year-old man for an outstanding warrant for vehicle theft and possession of burglary tools near 11th Street and Lincoln Boulevard.

Tuesday, Oct. 22

7:41 a.m.: An electric wheelchair was reported as stolen from outside a home on the 300 block of West 12th Street. The owner said that the chair — a Gogo Elite Traveler — had been left outside for 15 or 20 minutes. Police are investigating the theft.

9:28 a.m.: An 18-year-old man was arrested for making threats and obstructing an officer on the 2900 block of Misty Meadows Drive. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail.

2:49 p.m.: Police are investigating the case of a 10-month-old girl with a fractured leg who was taken to the emergency room at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd. The baby’s foster parent took her to the hospital because of a fever, and X-rays revealed the fracture.

4:10 p.m.: A resident of the 1400 block of Holly Drive told police someone broke into his house while was out of town.

7:36 p.m.: A woman said someone stole a part from her fiancé’s truck tailgate on the 300 block of Alvarado Way.

9:41 p.m.: A 39-year-old woman was arrested for a drug-related warrant on the 900 block of West Grant Line Road.

Monday, Oct. 21

8:29 a.m.: A woman told police there was a prowler in her backyard on the 1200 block of Pyrenees Street. The man apparently tried to hop a neighbor’s fence, but the neighbor has a large dog, and the woman saw him run down the side of her yard. Police checked the area and were unable to find the man.

11:09 a.m.: Two cats were allegedly abandoned by a resident who moved from the 200 block of Versailles Court. A neighbor said both cats appeared malnourished, and one was pregnant. Animal control took the cats to the shelter.

12:29 p.m.: A neighbor allegedly pushed a 79-year-old man who was blowing leaves out of his yard on the 500 block of West Emerson Avenue, according to the man’s wife. She said the neighbor claimed that the blower was throwing dust onto his vehicle.

1:29 p.m.: A clerk at Motel 6, 3810 N. Tracy Blvd., called to report that the housekeeping staff had found a gun in a recently vacated room. Police found that it was a toy.

10:03 p.m.: A 51-year-old woman was arrested for a drug possession warrant following a traffic stop at Sixth Street and Tracy Boulevard.

Sunday, Oct. 20

2:53 a.m.: Police received multiple calls about a loud explosion on the 200 block of East Third Street. No details were provided.

3:46 a.m.: Police responded to a car crash in which a female driver hit a brick wall near Tracy Boulevard and Eaton Avenue. The car knocked down a wooden light pole, and officers closed off a nearby business parking lot to clean up the debris.

3:23 p.m.: A 34-year-old man was arrested on the 200 block of East 10th Street for a warrant for driving with a suspended license and parole violation.

6:11 p.m.: An 18-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop near First Street and Central Avenue.

Saturday, Oct. 19

12:53 a.m.: A 19-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence after officers found a car on the grass near Corral Hollow Road and 11th Street. A K-9 officer followed a trail of blood leading from the car to the man, who was allegedly intoxicated.

12:21 p.m.: A woman on the 100 block of Collins Avenue told police she received messages from someone posing as a friend and asking for naked pictures of her and her daughter. Police are investigating.

8:48 p.m.: A 26-year-old man was arrested for an outstanding burglary warrant at Quality Inn, 3511 N. Tracy Blvd.

9:19 p.m.: A 24-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence outside a store on the 2500 block of Naglee Road.

Friday, Oct. 18

7:53 a.m.: Someone allegedly used a bolt cutter to break into a shed on the 100 block of A Street and steal some of the contents.

8:04 a.m.: A 39-year-old woman was arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop near a motel on the 3800 block of North Tracy Boulevard.

Thursday, Oct. 17

2:01 a.m.: A 23-year-old man was arrested on the 700 block of West Lowell Avenue for warrants for driving with a suspended license and leaving an animal in an unattended motor vehicle.

3:53 a.m.: A 21-year-old man was arrested on the 1100 block of West 11th Street for a warrant for buying a stolen vehicle, vehicle theft, obstructing a police officer and possession of stolen property.

9:40 a.m.: A 45-year-old man was arrested for drug possession on the 1300 block of Holly Drive.

11:12 a.m.: A 31-year-old man was arrested on the 11700 block of Fink Road and booked into county jail for an outstanding vandalism warrant.

12:52 p.m.: A Kimball High School student allegedly threatened to use razor blades on a classmate at 3200 Jaguar Run. The classmate told police he didn’t feel threatened. Officers also talked to the student’s mother, who said her son was not violent. School officials said they would handle the matter of the student carrying razor blades on campus.

1:43 p.m.: Police arrested a 32-year-old man on drug-related charges following a traffic stop near Byron and Corral Hollow roads. He was booked into county jail.
