A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 11, for Mary Alice Avila, 87, a lifelong Tracy resident who died Wednesday, Sept. 4, in Tracy.

She was born Dec. 22, 1925.

Mrs. Avila is survived by four children, Manuel Avila of Galt and Steven Avila, Ernest Avila and Mary Lou Canale, all of Tracy; five siblings, Helen Texeira of Waterford, Daniel Silveira of Yuba City and Joseph Silveira, George Silveira and Yvonne Sawvel, all of Tracy; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Manuel Avila; parents, Maria Lourdes Silveira and Frank Silveira; and a grandson.

The Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 163 W. Eaton Ave. A vigil will precede the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. that same day at Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave. Visitation will be observed from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the mortuary. Burial will be in Tracy Cemetery, 501 E. Schulte Road.
