A Tracy teacher is being held on $22 million bail following allegations that he inappropriately touched a student at Traina Elementary School.

Darrel James Golden, 59, is charged with lewd acts upon a child and continued sexual abuse of a child, both felonies, and misdemeanor child molesting, according to the San Joaquin County Jail website.

He is scheduled to be arraigned today, Tuesday, Aug. 6, in San Joaquin County Superior Court at 1:30 p.m. on the charges.

Golden is a fourth-grade teacher at Traina School, according to the Jefferson Elementary School District.

The district announced in a press release on Monday, Aug. 5, that Golden was arrested by the Tracy Police Department following an investigation lasting about eight months.

Golden was arrested at 4:14 p.m., according to the district. He entered the county jail at 7:31 p.m., the jail website states.

On Dec. 4, the Tracy Press reported that a teacher from Traina School was placed on administrative leave following accusations of inappropriate contact between that teacher and a student on Nov. 28.

Officials at JESD confirmed in Monday’s press release that Golden was the teacher removed in November.

According to California penal code, continued sexual abuse of a child is defined as when a person “over a period of time, not less than three months in duration, engages in three or more acts of substantial sexual conduct with a child under the age of 14 years.”

Letters have been sent home to parents in the district regarding Golden’s arrest, the release states.

Read Friday’s edition of the Tracy Press for the full story.

I can't believe you were crazy enough to work for DVI.

Living in Tracy makes a person qualify as insane in an of itself. But working at DVI.

You deserve a combat medal for that one!

(btw Tracy has no ghetto) - actually it does... It may not be Oakland or Stockton ghetto but it does. Also, Tracy has sex trafficking going on..... But no one sees it because no one cares to look.

Please educate me on the location of this ghetto. I have been in Tracy for 30 years, my parents for nearly 60 and My grandparents for even longer and I have yet to see it. If you are talking about "the projects" try again. So far from ghetto. No one sees sex trafficking because its not something people do in the open. You don't go looking for something you are not equipped to handle. TPD is doing a great job in our town. City politics suck but at the end of the day, I feel safe in my town. If you don't then perhaps you are just a little too paranoid.

Wow I can't believe this happened in the good part of town, where the "good schools are".

Just goes to show, no matter where you send your children to school in Tracy, they are not safe!!!!!!

Get out of this town while you have the chance!

No thanks, Chris. I think I'll stay here with my family to make sure that the bad folks in this town don't outnumber the good.

Chris, please do your research. You are always on here commenting and you sound like a douche. The "good" part of town is where all the crime happens first of all. Not that location had anything to do with this incident. But I will further educated you. Visit TPD and they will gladly show you that the highest crime rates are in the newer homes that have commuter parents that have kids that are home all afternoon into the evening without supervision. Do your research. Now back to the topic at hand. The fact that this happened in a "Good" Neighborhood is neither here nor there. The pervert is still a pervert whether it happened in Redbridge or in the ghetto (btw Tracy has no ghetto). Trust me, 95% of the readers want you to leave as much as you talk about it. Its people like you that look the other way when crime goes on. Why? because you don't care enough to stand up in your own community. Instead you just move on until the next town is not to your standard.

It’s pretty ironic that Chris would comment negatively on this story. Over here in the neighborhood, people go out of their way to avoid Chris as he is known throughout as the neighbor who is most likely to diddle the kiddies.

I wish people would keep their kids away from my house. Every spring I see barefoot white trash children collecting cherries from my trees and they always break my branches.

But I'm sure their redneck parents are to busy eating pork rinds to raise them.

So, since neighborhood children take your cherries, you think it's okay to take theirs? You are truly a disgusting pervert.
