Police have identified Benny Castro Jr. as the motorcyclist who was killed in a head-on collision on Chrisman Road Thursday, Aug. 1.

Adam Shelton of the California Highway Patrol office in Tracy released the 30-year-old Tracy resident’s name on Friday, Aug. 2.

Castro was killed when his 2007 Suzuki Boulevard motorcycle collided head-on with a 2006 Dodge pickup near the northern entrance to the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution San Joaquin around 7:25 a.m., according to Shelton.

The motorcyclist was traveling north on Chrisman Road when the truck, which was driving south, allegedly turned in front of Castro’s motorcycle near the entrance of the Depot, Shelton said.

Castro’s motorcycle hit the grill of the pickup, veered off and hit a nearby concrete barrier, Shelton said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, Mike Kozma, 49, of Tracy, was uninjured.

Shelton said the accident is still under investigation, but no charges have been filed against Kozma as of Friday, Aug. 2.
