Joy and Pixie, 20-month-old littermates, are available for adoption together from Animal Rescue of Tracy. They are smooth-coated Jack Russell terrier-Chihuahua mixes. Pixie, the leader, weighs about 7 pounds, and Joy, her more cautious sister, weighs about 5 pounds and follows her example. Both get along well with other dogs, but Pixie does not like cats. They sleep in a crate together and like to curl up in a friendly lap — often at the same time. Animal Rescue of Tracy is a nonprofit, all-volunteer rescue group that has pet adoption fairs for dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays in the Macy’s wing of the West Valley Mall, 3200 Naglee Road. The second Pet Lovers Expo and Health & Safety Fair is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 3 at the mall, across from JCPenney; for details, see Datebook on Page 2. The rescue group is also forming a feral cat committee and needs volunteers and a leader for the project; call 642-4324, visit www.animalrescuetracy.org or email email@example.com to learn more.
