Jessica Hufford, of Tracy, who is a senior at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, recently confirmed her plans to play soccer for the Southern Oregon University Raiders in Ashland, Ore.

Raiders coach Jon Clement said he picked Hufford, a midfielder, for her ability to win the ball on the ground or in the air, and he expects her skills to improve the Raiders as a whole.

The Raiders play in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Hufford, who developed her skills with West Coast Soccer Club of Livermore, did not play for St. Mary’s.

Coached by Troy Dayak of Tracy, her West Coast Soccer team, Kryptonite, won its third straight Nor Cal Premiere State Cup on May 5.
