Services will be Saturday, May 11, for John Mello, 90, a retired carpenter and deliveryman, who died April 30 at his Tracy home.

Mr. Mello was born Oct. 7, 1922, in New Bedford, Mass, and moved to Tracy three years ago from the Bay Area. He had worked 34 years for Viking Doors.

He was a member of Center of Hope Church of Tracy, First Apostolic Church of San Jose and St. Clare’s Catholic Church of Santa Clara.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rosemarie Mello of San Jose; four children, John Mello Jr. of Manteca, Patricia DeMello of Tracy, June Jacobson, and her husband, Dave, of Oroville and Michael DeMello, and his wife, Leslie, of Mountain View; two stepchildren, Johnnie Deantoni, and his wife, Lilia, and Roseann Deantoni, all of San Jose; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a son, Patrick DeMello; and a brother, Alfred Silva.

A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Center of Hope Church, 2514 N. Holly Drive. Burial is scheduled for June 7 in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara. Hotchkiss Mortuary, 5 W. Highland Ave., is handling arrangements.
