Hu’s time of 2 minutes, 10.43 seconds in the varsity boys 200-yard individual medley on Saturday, April 27, at Lincoln High, puts him among the top varsity swimmers in the Sac-Joaquin Section.
“This is a show of how I will do at sections and hopefully good things will happen there as well,” Hu said.
Tracy’s individual SJAA champions include senior Chris Sonderman, who scored 269.35 points in the varsity diving competition on April 25 at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton.
The Bulldogs placed fourth in the SJAA behind Lodi, Lincoln and Bear Creek, and now send 11 swimmers, three divers, and 11 relay teams to section meets. The diving championships are Thursday, May 2, to Saturday, May 4, at Johansen High in Modesto, and the swimming championships are Thursday, May 9 to Saturday, May 11 at Tokay High in Lodi.
Tri-City Athletic League
West High finished in third place behind St. Mary’s and Tokay at the Tri-City Athletic League meet on Saturday, April 27, at Tokay High in Lodi.
West’s top swimmers were senior Bradley McCain, third in the 100 backstroke (1:02.04), and junior Cassidy Waters, third in the 100 freestyle (57.92).
West will send them, plus freshman Conner Waters and seven relay teams to the section meet.
Valley Oak League
Both the Kimball varsity boys and girls placed fifth at the Valley Oak League championship meet on Saturday, April 27, at Oakdale High.
Top swimmers for Kimball include sophomore Seth Suzuki, who placed third (2:14.9) in the 200-yard individual medley and fourth in the 100 butterfly (57.98).
Suzuki, sophomore Alec Fairfield and eight relay teams will compete at the section meet.
