Today’s Remember When mystery photo, above left, shows a teacher checking the work of a student in a Tracy classroom in 1979. Who was the teacher, and what was the reason for the photo?

Last week’s Remember When mystery photo, below left, showed Clyde Bland being sworn into office as a member of the Tracy City Council in April 1985. Doing the honors was City Clerk Betty Dani. Bland, who served on the Tracy Planning Commission from 1972 to 1976, was appointed to the City Council to fill out the last year of the four-year term of Larry Grebil, who had resigned. Bland was elected to a four-year term on the City Council in 1986 and was elected mayor in 1990, serving a pair of two-year terms. He died March 1, 2007 at the age of 81.
