U.S. Army Pfc. Michael Tomas Casas, a former Tracy resident, recently completed basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S.C., on Feb. 14, following 10 weeks of intensive training.
He was elected as bay boss, guide-on and post setter for the 1st Battalion, 13th Infantry Regiment, Bravo Company.
He was reassigned to Fort Lee, Va., for advanced individual training and to Fort Eustis, Va., to learn Chinook helicopter repair.
Casas is a 2006 graduate of West High School and a 2011 graduate of the Basic Peace Officer Academy at San Joaquin Delta College.
He is the son of Tomas and Sonia Casas and brother of Tomas Jr. and Dezare G. Casas, all of Tracy. His grandparents are Enriqueta Casas of Stockton and the late Melecio Casas Sr. and Esperanza Yniguez.
THS grad training as Air Force metals specialist
Jade Elijah Reynolds, a 2010 Tracy High School graduate, completed basic military training in January at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
He earned two additional stripes and the rank of airman first class for completing his associate degree at Columbia Junior College before entering the military.
Reynolds is completing his technical training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, and will be stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana upon completion of his education as a metals specialist in June.
His parents are Neal and Chandra Reynolds of Tracy.
