Four football players will represent Tracy and Kimball high schools at the 40th Central California Lions All-Star Football Game on June 15 at Modesto Junior College.

Tracy High fullback-linebacker Bruce Russell and lineman Josh Bongiovanni, and Kimball High quarterback Zack Johnson and running back-defensive end Evan Owens are among the 57 high school seniors who will play on the Lions North and South teams.

The players are chosen from high schools in the Lions District 4A-1, which includes the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra foothills. All players will be recognized at the Lions annual football banquet Saturday, April 13, at the Italian Athletic Club in Stockton.

Former Tracy High football coach Wayne Schneider — one of the original organizers of the all-star game— said the roster could change between now and June.

He said many high school seniors who are selected as all-stars are heading for NCAA Division I schools and opt to skip the game to get started with their summer workouts.
