Police Log: Highway chase leads toward Lathrop

Police chased a truck from Tracy to Lathrop after a caller reported the truck was used to allegedly steal a dirt bike on Sunday, April 7, from near the Best Western Motel.

A dirt bike was placed on a grey pickup at 3:51 a.m., according to a caller at the 811 W. Clover Road motel.

A vehicle matching the truck’s description was spotted headed east on Interstate 205 near the interchange of MacArthur Drive and I-205. The truck reached speeds of 95 mph, according to the log, before the driver exited the highway at some point after the Mossdale exit.

Police searched near the end of Manthey Road in Lathrop and found an abandoned white Ford F350 truck but didn’t report finding any suspects. No one was arrested.

Several cellphones, a trailer and a motorcycle were entered into evidence.

Tracy police received 622 calls for service Thursday, April 4, to Sunday, April 7. The following is a sample of those reports.


10:28 a.m.: A GPS was allegedly stolen by a 31-year-old woman from Best Buy, 2550 Naglee Road. She was arrested and booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp.

5:54 p.m.: A city tree reportedly fell on a GMC Sierra on the 600 block of F Street.


2:20 p.m.: An allegedly forged check was identified by a clerk at Chase bank, 691 W. 11th St. The check was out of sequence, and the signature didn’t match previous signatures, according to the clerk. A 43-year-old man was arrested in connection to the call.

5:28 p.m.: Police told a group of juveniles playing with Airsoft guns to leave Joseph Tiago Park, 1260 Eastlake Circle, because there were many other children there who could be hit by a pellet.

10:38 p.m.: Two teenage boys were cited and released after being stopped on suspicion of stealing from Walmart, 3010 W. Grant Line Road.


10:06 a.m.: Two men were detained at gunpoint near the intersection of Blandford and Ferndown lanes after police received a report that a house on the 2300 block of Alexis Lane was being robbed. A 31-year-old and a 26-year-old were arrested for allegedly stealing a license plate.

8:03 p.m.: Police arrested a 20-year-old on an outstanding Contra Costa County warrant after an employee at Home Depot, 2400 Naglee Road, reported a couple in the store that had allegedly stolen items before and looked like they might try to do it again.

9:11 p.m.: A 64-year-old woman was arrested outside Ralph’s Club, 444 E. 11th St., on suspicion of driving under the influence.

9:39 p.m.: A caller near 11th Street and Lincoln Boulevard said it looked like the passenger of a car shot a gun out the window. No evidence of a shooting was found.


5:34 a.m.: A tow truck was called for a Lexus ES300 that had driven through a puddle and crashed near the intersection of Corral Hollow Road and Starflower Drive. The car had hit a tree.

5:51 p.m.: Police arrested a 34-year-old man at the Chesapeake Bay Apartments, 2941 W. Lowell Ave., for a warrant out of Stanislaus County.
