Tracy police arrested four male juveniles on Monday, April 8, following an alleged home burglary on Alexis Lane after they were seen carrying rifles on Lowell Avenue across the street from Freiler School.

Lt. Mike Vieira of the Tracy Police Department said a neighborhood resident called at about 11:30 a.m. to report people carrying rifles in front of Freiler School, 2421 W. Lowell Ave.

Police called the school, according to Vieira, and advised the campus be closed and students locked in their classrooms as a precaution while officers searched Lowell Avenue.

A home burglary on Alexis Lane was reported at about the same time the males were seen walking on Lowell Avenue, Vieira said.

The lieutenant said the group ran away when they noticed the caller and another area resident following them west on Lowell Avenue, throwing several items into a waist-high shrub in front of a sound wall along the south side of the street.

Officers caught one of the minors on Lowell Avenue a short distance from the school.

Another minor was spotted on Bridle Creek Circle and ran from officers. He was arrested after he and jumped a fence into a dirt field bordered by Henley Parkway and the Chesapeake Bay apartment complex.

Police set up a perimeter in neighborhoods to the west of Freiler School to search for the last two minors, who were caught at Oxford and Chartwell lanes.

Officers roped off about a three-block long section of the Lowell Avenue sound wall as they searched for items thought to be dumped by the alleged burglars.

Crime scene technicians and officers recovered several items allegedly stolen from a home on Alexis Lane, including a pump-action shotgun from the shrubs across the street from Freiler School.

Vieira said small personal electronics and jewelry were also recovered along the sound wall.

Vieira said police received at least two other reports of home burglaries in the general area at about the same time as the arrests, but did not know if they were related to the burglary on Alexis Lane or the arrests.

Vieira said they have recovered all the firearms that were taken.

The lockdown was lifted from Freiler School shortly after noon.

No this is BS. These kids will learn the hard way.

One day one of these dumb kids is going to break into a house and a jumpy and armed home owner is going to give them a lesson in what game over means.

I can not believe the comments that were left by all of these people, it clearly states not to use remarks such as you all did. Yes gun owners should have guns in a safe, you don't know if they have children or why it was not in a safe. Some parents have to work and can not be home at all times, I can not believe that you attacked the parents with such rude comments. Yes these kids should get in a lot of trouble, yes they are punks, I don't think calling names and acting like high school kids is the answer. Our neighborhoods are being broken into, kids race down our streets in 40,000 dollar cars spinning donuts in residential areas. These kids are spoiled and given way to much, when they run over a small child they will pay. The ones who are stealing will run into a home owner with a gun, they to will pay. Instead of calling names, and blaming we should thank the good job of the police department, and the neighbors. We should then make sure that we all do the same for our neighbors when we see something call the police, You do not know who, what color, or why. It makes me angry that this happens, if we all watch out for these things, they wont succeed any more......

Apparently the scumbags are already out and on the streets again.

That's because they are juveniles. The cops refer to it as "catch and release".

Going to juvi is nothing more than a mere paper work formality. The parents are called, and the children are picked up and allowed to terrorize the streets another day.

This happens in the adult justice system too. Remember the guy who robbed (and tried to light on fire) the check cashing place by the chase on 11steet? He was back on the street in a matter of weeks.

I am glad they caught the little dirtbags. Of course they are "children" so they will get their hands slapped or sent to juvie for a while.

Thank you to the alert residents and the Tracy PD.

4 Minors out committing crimes on Monday at 11:30. Hey parents why were they not in school?

Hey parents whose guns were those? If they were yours and in the house you should have had them locked up! If your kid got them where did they keep them? Do you not check their rooms or cars (if they have them?).

Great job to the alert citizens and TPD. Yes little criminal kiddies....we are watching! Get back in school and choose another path. You don't want to be in a cell with...you know who.

I wonder why the homeowner didn't use a gun safe? Criminals don't do background checks; they don't buy weapons at gun shows; they don't license their firearms... they simply steal them from irresponsible gun owners.

Way to go Tracy Pd and citizens. As a person of 'color', I have to wonder what race the kids were.

Actually I don't, if I had to have two guesses...

Hey Parents of Tracy, some of you need to actually try raising your children, before they become another prison rape statistic!

Right doors 17, couldn't agree more with you on this. An even happier ending would be if the parents of these thugs were also arrested, locked up, sterilized for life, and prevented from breeding and raising any additional thugs like these

Let's all give a round of applause to the citizens who got involved that made this arrest possible, and of course a big thank you to the Tracy Police Department! I'm sure they don't hear that very often.

I just love a happy ending, don't you?

What a bunch of freaking LOSERS!!! How do lil' punk kids get guns like this??? If those were their parents, the parents are freaking stupid not to have those things locked down like no other...

What I took from the article was that the "juveniles" burglarized a home and stole the fire arms. Thinking about what they would have done with them is frightening.

Gun owners need to keep their fire arms in gun safes so they cannot be stolen.

Gotta love this town...
