Taylor Roach scored three goals for Tracy High in an 8-1 domination of the Lincoln High Trojans on Tuesday, April 2.

The senior forward said the Bulldogs (4-3-1, 3-0 San Joaquin Athletic Association) wanted to keep up the offensive pressure against Lincoln (3-7-2, 1-1-1 SJAA) and capitalize on their shots.

“If we maintain success up top we’ll do really well,” Roach said. “Preseason we weren’t so great, but then we started finishing up top.”

Coach Nate Perry added that Tuesday’s win, along with wins on the road against Franklin and Lodi last week, gave the Bulldogs a big advantage in a league that is evenly matched.

Tracy is now in first place in the SJAA.

“It’s huge for us to be rolling like this,” Perry said. “We got our preseason jitters out and now have found our stride and found out who we are.”

Tracy wasted no time in taking control of the game, as junior forward Kelly Brooks scored in the first minute on a pass from junior Daesha Brown.

Senior Kaitlyn Crone soon scored on a penalty kick, Merkt scored on a pass from Cruz and Brown headed in a shot on a pass from Crone.

Roach scored her first goal of the game in the 35th minute on a pass from sophomore Shayla Simonich, and scored again two minutes later on a pass from Brooks.

Roach recorded her third goal four minutes into the second half on a cross from Brown, and Crone scored on a cross that curved into the left corner of the goal in the 65th minute to make it an 8-0 game. Lincoln scored its goal three minutes later.

Tracy beat Lodi 5-0 on March 28.

Senior Kellie Piazza scored three goals while senior Kourtney Merkt and freshman Iris Cruz each added one.

The Bulldogs also beat Franklin 4-1 on March 26, with two goals from Piazza and one each from Merkt and Cruz.

Tracy is currently in first place in the SJAA.

Tracy finishes the first-half of its league season with a road game at Chavez on Thursday, April 4, in Stockton, and a home game against Bear Creek on Tuesday, April 9.

The result from Thursday’s game weren’t available at press time.

On Monday April 8, Tracy hosts a nonleague match against the defending Sac-Joaquin Section Division I champion, St. Mary’s.
