A celebration of life will be Monday, April 8, for Barbara Sue Adams Batten, a Tracy resident since 1975, who died Thursday, April 4, after battling cancer. She was 72.

Born May 15, 1940, in Merced and raised in Dos Palos, Mrs. Batten worked in various pharmacies throughout a lengthy career. She worked most recently at the Tracy Safeway pharmacy, and before that at Grantline Drug.

Survivors include five daughters, Jennifer Bostic, and her husband, Steve, of Hill Air Force Base, Utah, Pamela Carson, and her husband, Al, of Tracy, Suzanne Fedi, and her husband, John, of Stockton, Diane Tougas, and her husband, Bryan, of Glendale, Ariz., and Julie Escobedo of Tracy; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Frances Snow and Margaret Dishen, both of Hanford.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 40 years, Richard Batten; parents, James and Maggie Adams; a brother, G.W. “Buddy” Adams; and a sister, Bernice Adams.

The celebration of Mrs. Batten’s life will begin at noon Monday at the Tracy Moose Lodge, 35 E. Sixth St. Inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Batten’s name may be sent to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Ave.; to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
