Tracy High Schools mock trial team had its best finish at the 32nd Annual California Mock Trails.

The team placed sixth overall at the trials — the highest finish for a San Joaquin County team in the competition’s history — according to team co-coach Ron Indran.

The competition was held on March 24 in Riverside.

Indran, who is also an attorney for the San Joaquin County district attorney’s office, said his team’s competition was very strong this year.

He said competitors typically hire attorneys to work at their schools to improve performances at the county and state levels. However, Tracy High’s team is coordinated by a group of volunteers.

“We were going against the best of the best in 33 counties,” he said. “I’m proud of them.”

During the competition, Tracy High’s defense team lost their first round, but bounced back in round two, Indran said.

Tracy’s prosecution team scored wins in the third and fourth rounds.

The Bulldogs won their seat at the state contest by winning the San Joaquin County Mock Trials in Stockton on Feb. 23.
