Dozens of families visited a children’s safety fair at the West Valley Bowl parking lot on Friday, March 8, one of many events for kids as part of the third annual Tracy Celebrates Children.
The Tracy Fire and Tracy Police departments manned the Child Safety Zone from 3 to 5 p.m. at the 2365 East St. parking lot as part of the daylong series of events remembering the birthday of Sandra Cantu, the 8-year-old girl who was kidnapped and murdered in 2009.
At the fair, kits including fingerprint and DNA identification material were distributed for free to the families who attended.
Tracy fire had a child car seat inspection and installed 15 car seats for low-income families. The crews also inspected five other car seats that were incorrectly installed.
A Tracy fire engine and police cruiser were part of the display along with a visit from McGruff the crime dog.
