The burglaries — involving at least six residences — occurred Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7, according to a Thursday night press release from Sgt. David Sasser of the Tracy Police Department.
Officers responded to calls at homes on the 2900 block of Reyes Lane, the 800 block of Windsong Drive, the 400 block of Arezzo Way, the 1300 block of Merced Way and the 1900 block of Pheasant Run Court, the release states.
Witnesses told police that two to four men were seen knocking on the front doors of burglarized homes.
Police believe the men are knocking to determine if anyone is home, and then forcing open the front door if the residence is vacant.
They are described as black men who are 20 to 30 years old wearing blue beanie-style hats, the release states. The men were seen driving a blue- or teal-colored four-door sedan that could be an early 2000s model Honda or Saturn.

But feeling the need to bear arms to protect oneself, family, and property from the likes of the burglars in this story does?
I don't have any emperical data to back this up but I bet I'm correct in saying most people in this country who own guns do not possess them to protect against a foreign enemy or tyranical government, they own them for protection from criminals. If I end up buying a gun it sure as hell is not going to be for anything other than the latter.
Should people in a truly free society also need to worry about leaving their gargage door opener in a vehicle parked outside for the night, look over their shoulder while walking at night or in these times during the day, look over their shoulder when walking to their car in a dimly lit parking lot, worry about getting robbed when walking out of a store with new electronics, or opening their front door unless someone they know is knocking?
Admittedly solving the crime issue involves much more than some quick stop gap measures like profiling or curfews as we are a society in regression - technologically advanced but morally deficient, but what's your ideas for now?

in this story? I sure as heck didn't think so, I figured you were talking in general so why don't you try the same level of comprehension?
Believe me, I've read and studied not only our Constitution but our entire history in great length so I am fully aware of the arguments against profiling and curfews. I still maintain something more needs to be done to be pro-active rather than reactive to the crime problem. I for one am not paranoid of police the way many people seem to be. Years ago in Fremont I was profiled by Fremont PD and you know what? No big deal. I understood the problem they were trying to address. Although a reputable business owner at the time who actually gave to police & fire fighter charities, I knew I fit the look of who FPD was going after.

Look, let's take the sham which is supposedly airport security. The world knows who presents the greatest threat of committing a terrorist act, we know what this group looks like, why not focus on them rather than little old ladies or children? Granted one of the last two groups could be strapped with explosives but way not go with the percentages?
