The Jaguars scored 51 team points to best the other 23 teams at the meet. West High’s boys placed 17th with nine points. Kimball placed sixth (34) in the varsity girls division, and West placed 12th (13).
Leading the way for Kimball’s boys was senior James Slater, who won the long jump with a mark of 21-1.
Athletes who finished in the top six contributed to their team score. Junior Damon Jackson was second in the 100 meter run (11.23). Senior Derek Van de Streek was fourth in the triple jump (41-9) and sixth in the long jump (19-5). Senior Chandler Alves placed fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.35), senior Evan Owens was fourth in the 100 (11.38), and senior Danny Gallegos was sixth in the 300 hurdles (43.84).
Kimball also was first in the 4x100m relay (43.40), second in the 800 sprint medley relay (1:40.82) and sixth in the 4x400 relay (3:46.00).
Kimball’s girls brought home three gold medals Saturday, including two for senior Chloe Jenkins. She won both the 100 hurdles (15.98) and 300 hurdles (47.43).
Senior Jaleyah Douglass won the discus (114-9).
Top award for West was senior Ernest Turner’s second-place mark in the boys triple jump (42-7.25), and West’s boys placed sixth in the 4x100 relay (47.38).
West senior Margaret Southards placed fourth in the girls 100 hurdles (16.90) and fifth in the 300m hurdles (50.99) and senior Maliyah Shavers was sixth (30-3) in the girls triple jump. West’s girls also placed fifth in the 4x100 relay (52.14) and 800 sprint medley relay (1:59.11).
