A 28-year-old man arrested during a traffic stop in the area of 12th Street and Holly Drive was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on Monday, March 4.

He allegedly threatened to stab a man during an argument around 4:20 p.m., just prior to the traffic stop.

The victim reportedly ran into a business to escape the man. He called police, who located the suspect driving his vehicle in the area of the traffic stop.

The suspect allegedly threatened the victim with a “large” knife with a 5-inch blade.

He was taken to San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and exhibiting a weapon, according to the jail website.

Tracy police received 313 calls for service Monday, March 4 and Tuesday, March 5. The following is a sample of those reports.

10:26 a.m.: A 27-year-old man was cited for shoplifting at Target, 2800 Naglee Road.

7:21 p.m.: Officers arrested a 36-year-old man on charges of spousal abuse. He was arrested during a pedestrian stop in Zanussi Park located at 1500 Promenade Court.

12:23 a.m.: A resident on the 100 block of Montgomery Lane reported that her boyfriend was hallucinating and wandering around the house looking for “people robbing them,” the log states. The man was released from the hospital the day before for unknown reasons. However, he told responding officers that his friends had put Ecstasy in a gunshot wound he previously received. Police didn’t arrest the man because of his medical condition. He also was reportedly paranoid, but not violent.

12:54 p.m.: Officers were called to Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd., where a man refused to leave after being discharged by hospital staff. The man was allegedly lying peacefully on a gurney, but refused to leave. He left once police arrived.

2:12 p.m.: Police detained a man on the 2900 block of Dixon Court because he was suspected of yelling at a 17-year-old girl as she tried to walk home. Officers questioned the man, who said he was signing out loud with his music player. He was released, and no report was taken.

4:12 p.m.: A female was arrested on the 200 block of Rochester Court for battery. She allegedly shot her sister several times with a BB gun when the sister refused to get up from a chair the female wanted to sit in. The victim was reportedly bleeding from her leg, and was holding her 1-year-old son during the incident.

"Officers questioned the man, who said he was "signing" out loud with his music player."

I often sign out loud when being questioned by officers... Since it helps distract from the actual experience of my 'singing'.
