Tracy police would like to talk to any witnesses who saw the crash on MacArthur Drive at Eastlake Drive on Thursday evening.

Police say that a northbound Ford Explorer passed another car on the right at about 6:30 p.m. before it entered the intersection against a red light and crashed into a Mercedes sedan.

Officer Vince Weyant, who is investigating the crash, said the first police officer on the scene saw two cars that were not involved in the crash stopped at the side of the road. The people in those cars left the scene before police could talk to them. One of them apparently was the car that the Ford was trying to pass.

Weyant said he still has to interview the driver in the Ford again. He said the Ford was registered to the driver, who had insurance on the SUV but no driver’s license.
