Democratic Congressman-elect Jerry McNerney will stop in Tracy today on a weekend-long tour to meet and greet those throughout the 11th Congressional District.
McNerney, who won 53 percent of the votes Tuesday to unseat Rep. Richard Pombo, R-Tracy, will thank his supporters and listen to their concerns, spokesman Yoni Cohen said.
“He’s very appreciative of the support that he’s been shown in Tracy, and he looks forward to working for the people of Tracy.”
Steve Reichgut of Tracy supported McNerney at the polls Tuesday and considers today’s open house a nice gesture.
“I think it’s good for him to say, ‘I’m here to represent everyone in the district.’ And if he does that, it will be a positive thing,” Reichgut said.
McNerney accepted lots of congratulations and caught up on sleep over the past few days, Cohen said.
He expects the meet and greet, which will begin 5 p.m. at Anthony’s Steakhouse, 430 W. Grant Line Road, to draw a full house. Appetizers will be served.
McNerney will host similar events in the East Bay after he returns from New Member Orientation in Washington next week.
“He’s excited to get to work,” Cohen said.MEET AND GREET:Congressman-elect Jerry McNerney will talk with his new constituents at an event today at Anthony's Steakhouse.
