Born in Arkansas on Sept. 15, 1938, Mrs. Tapia worked for the H.J. Heinz Co. and Owens-Illinois Glass factories in Tracy. She was a 60-year Tracy resident.
Survivors include three children, Debra Schmitt of Valley Springs, Robin Carmona, and her husband, David, of Ripon, and David Schmitt of Manteca; three grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are four siblings, Wilma Sheers of Spanaway, Wash., Billie Townsend of Oklahoma City, Okla., Richard Boatman of McAlester, Okla., and Sharon Witt of Manteca.
Friday’s service will begin at 10 a.m. at Tracy Cemetery, 501 E. Schulte Road. Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., is handling arrangements, and an online guest book can be viewed at www.frymemorialchapel.com.
