The West High boys basketball team started off strong and then fell behind in a 61-52 loss at Armijo High in Fairfield on Friday, Feb. 15.

The game was West's chance to play into the 16-team Sac-Joaquin Section Division I playoff bracket. Instead, West (18-10, 5-5 Tri-City Athletic League) ends its season and Armijo (15-7, 7-3 Monticello Empire League) moves on to play No. 2 seed Pleasant Grove on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Elk Grove.

West coach Derek Sprecksel said senior guard Hayden Ordone, with 20 points for the night, led the Pack to a 8-point halftime lead, but Armijo outrebounded West in the second half to take the game back.

West’s other leading scorers were junior guard Kenneth Daye with 10 points and senior forward DeAndre Thompson with eight.
