Born June 28, 1931, in Tracy, he attended Tracy schools and graduated in 1950 from Tracy High School, where he was a multiyear catcher on the Bulldogs baseball team.
For many years, Mr. Cardoza lived in Davis, where he first worked for Mobil Chemical and then for 30 years operated the largest worm farm in California.
He moved to Grants Pass five years ago.
Mr. Cardoza was an avid builder and flyer of radio-controlled model airplanes. He was a member of the Elks in Davis and Grants Pass.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Avis Cardoza of Grants Pass; a daughter, Diana Dixon of Grants Pass; a son, Daniel Cardoza of Woodland; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are five brothers, David, Harold and Alan Cardoza, all of Tracy, Raymond Cardoza of Manteca and Vincent Cardoza of Vacaville; and a sister, Sharon Beam of Ceres.
Memorial services are pending in Grants Pass.
