The Tracy High Alumni Club is working with architects for the new classroom building on the school campus. They plan to mount a 40-foot-wide photo mural of the original building in the foyer of its replacement.

At a recent meeting of the club’s board of directors, board members authorized president Greg Jimenez to continue discussions with Rainforth Grau Architects in Sacramento to move the project along.

Jimenez said the board has signaled its unanimous approval of the plan.

He said the price tag for the mural is still unknown.

During the meeting, board members set the cutoff date of Nov. 9 for receiving recipes for the club’s upcoming recipe book. The recipes can be sent to Tracy High Alumni Recipes, 1429 Harding Ave., Tracy 95376.

Jimenez, who succeeded Carl Thompson as president of the Tracy High Alumni Club, is a 1972 graduate of Tracy High who has been a member of the board for the past 10 years.

An employee of H.J. Heinz Co. for 28 years, Jimenez now works at the Heinz specialty tomato-products plant in Escalon.

Serving with Jimenez as officers of the Tracy High Alumni Club are Cynthia Petrig Jimenez, vice president; Cathy Hariton, corresponding secretary; Sherill Anderson, treasurer; and Harold Anderson, sergeant-at-arms.

The club sponsors an annual tri-tip steak and asparagus feed each spring to raise money for college scholarships and club projects.
