The positions are found under two separate headings in a drop-down menu on the careers page of Amazon.com.
The job of control systems specialist is under the “Operations — Engineering” label, while the jobs of maintenance planner/CMMS administrator and industrial maintenance technician are listed under the “Real Estate/Facilities” section.
The positions were first seen by the Tracy Press on Friday, Feb. 8.
Kelly Cheeseman, a spokeswoman for Amazon.com, stated in an email response to the Tracy Press on Friday that the “majority of our hiring will take place closer to the site’s opening,” which is expected to be in October.
Cheeseman didn’t provide a response to questions regarding how many people will be hired for the current positions.
She directed potential applicants to a website detailing the career opportunities at an Amazon fulfillment center.
Officials from Amazon.com and the city of Tracy officially announced on Jan. 22 that the company would locate its operation in the city — a move expected to bring about 1,000 jobs, city officials have estimated.
A press release that day from Amazon stated that the facility — the company’s third in the state since October — will “create hundreds of full-time jobs with benefits.”
Amazon uses fulfillment centers to package and distribute the products it sells online.
Employees at the Tracy center are expected to “engage with high-end technology while fulfilling customer orders,” the release stated.
According to the job description, a control systems specialist “will ensure that Safety comes first in all Facilities efforts. This position will provide proper training to the Facility Technicians on device troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance.”
A maintenance planner/CMMS administrator “is responsible for the overall asset management, work planning, and spare part inventory using Infor EAM software at a NA facility center,” the job description states.
Industrial maintenance technicians “will have the ability to lead other service technicians, design solutions for difficult problems, able to manage outside contractors, be on call for emergencies, ability to handle multiple projects and daily activities, and meet time lines,” according to the job description.
