Here we are at Tracy Interfaith Ministries, already well into 2013, and we are just about caught up with thank you letters for all the many, many donations of food, cash, toys, socks, blankets, coats and other clothing we received in November and December.
As I sign those thank you letters, I begin to worry about all those people who we never really get to thank. They drop off turkeys and hams and all kinds of generous donations and walk away without even giving us their name, or they put their name on a scrap of paper and in the madness of the moment the paper gets lost.
You really do make a difference. It’s the combination of a turkey or two here and a food drive, sock drive, coat drive there that keeps this organization helping others, not just during the holiday season but all year round. We would like to mention each individual supporter, but the list would be too long to print.
Because of the generosity of our community, we were able to provide a combined total of 1,150 Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets and Christmas gifts for 1,118 children.
We always work with Brighter Christmas to avoid duplication. Between our two organizations, no household in Tracy needs to go without a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, and no child needs to be without a gift.
What a wonderful community we live in. We have so much to be thankful for.
