Basil (left), a playful “lap cat” with a big purr, and his brother, Hawthorn, are available for adoption from East of Eden nonprofit animal rescue, either individually or as a pair. They were born in mid-April and have been socialized with other cats and dogs. Both Basil and Hawthorn will be in the cat adoption center at Petco, 2888 W. Grant Line Road, through the end of January and can be seen during store hours, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Their adoption fees have been reduced to $45 each. For information: Sheri Savage, eoerescue@yahoo.com or 925-980-3035.
